Yeah for real I feel for you dudes, I really truly wish there was some grown older man to have taught me more of the important parts about being a man, paying a mortgage, shaving, cologne. Like so many dudes is so fucking bydlo. Even if you had a dad, he may just be this gross fat fucking redneck who smells of manure and B.O. everyday and honest to God waltzs around like this makes him more "manly." Being a stinking dirty peasant who's just behaving ignorantly. There are so many things you young guys just don't know, about being a man, about being a father, about being an adult, about being a husband, about women and the things to be wary of why they do what they do and the way things actually work. Anyone raised by a feminist is severely fucked. Like just the most basic ass shit you know most dudes don't get, wear clothes for grownups, find a fragrance that suits you and wear the right amount of it on the right occasions and speaking of how to pick the right tailored suit, how to shave, how to have your hair, how to tie a tie and shake hands. It's become bewilderingly obvious to me so many dumb young Zoomer kids just sit around thinking they about to make 100k a year if only they can put in overtime like cmon man. There's no upward mobility at most jobs period. Or thinking "influencer, imma be an influencer" no pick a real career for an adult man. Get a clean shave, a nice haircut, a tasteful tie, and trim your nails. And also for the love of all holy, wash your ass and wash your hands and take care of your feet.

A good all around starter blade would be the Astra platinums in the green box. From there, you can try different blades to match your beard type if the Astra's don't work for you. Honestly, I think you will be pleased with the end result.

Feather blades in it and it was a decent bit of kit. That was way back when i managed to save money compared to using cartridges! Much better than the cart I had been using for over 40 years. For what it is, it's a decent starter. I still use it every once in a while. I didn't care for the blades. But I was a beginner, so it may have my inexperience that skews my judgement on them. Have a great weekend.

I just purchased one last week. I love it, as my first DE razor. Even my first learning experience with this shave beat disposable razors by a LONG mile. I'm NEVER going back to disposable. That being said, I purchased this razor because I can't find ANYWHERE that sells DE razors. This was the only one I found anywhere, and it _was_ a Walmart.😅 The thing is, i know i can find the online but for me personally this is the kind of product you buy in person. Pick it up, feel its heft, look at it from all angles not just the pictures they uploaded. For me, buying one of these razors is like buying cologne you've never smelled online just because it has good ratings. I just can't do it. Anyway. I'm still learning to use DE razor blades and getting the shaving down, I think once I get the hang of it a bit I'll look into other razors and blades. But for now, one shave with the Van Der Hoozits and I cam already tell you in was MILES better than brand new disposables.

You live in Texas, have you seen the big zote soap bars? In Latin America a lot of people even bath with them. Not long ago I experimented with the white colored one, and I got a good lather out of it with the boar brush. It's slick, though I think it doesn't provide much thickness. The ingredients are sodium tallowate (animal fat), sodium cocoate, Citronella oil (fragrance), glycerin and optical brightener. It's a laundry soap, but according to the company website it can be used for bathing too

Howdy from the Sierra Nevada mountains of California! I purchased a van der hagen double-edged safety razor a couple of years ago. I actually like this razor very much. It is on the mild side when compared to my 58 Gillette super speed but not so much that it's noticeable in a significant way, in fact I think that the two razors are very close in their aggressiveness. It isn't so mild that I don't enjoy using it but my 58 super speed is my daily driver and one of these days I hope to pick up a 58 Gillette fat boy since I haven't acquired one of those legendary razors as of yet I have a very thick beard and it seems to work very well for me. I found the weight of it to be just fine. I picked mine up at a Walgreens for about $10. I think it's well worth the investment and it's a great razor for anybody just getting into wet shaving. So thank you for doing a video on this much maligned and underrated razor. Shave on my brother!!!

Hey, from here in Dallas! Loved your channel for ages! I'm never averse to using brands found big box stores, especially if they work. For my regular aftershave lotion, after playing around with the hyped-up shave balms, I have for years found myself using Suave's Vitamin Revitalizing Lotion. I hate thick greasy lotions, but theirs is a very satin-like loose watery lotion, very pleasant and moisturizing. I bring it up here, because if they ever decide to discontinue it, I would be devastated. :(

funny enough, I ended up here after cracking a windshield and needing a safety razor blade to flatten out sealant bubbles looking forward to trying this out

So I just started out using safety razors, and chose this Van der Hagen as someone who previously used bic senstitive cartridges. Probably one of the best decisions I've ever made.

And btw do you think shaving is only for those who are able to grow thick, non patchy (good) facial hair? Because I am a 21 yearold who cannot really grow a beard for the life of me, since it grows out very thin, and patchy, but looks better when I shave it off, so I don't look like a creep. Heck I've had friends who wonder why I choose to not grow my facial hair out, and some wondering why I shave saying "What facial hair is there to even shave off?! 😂".

The razor worked for me for the first couple months of wet shaving but the blades tore me up. The blades drag across my face so bad I thought it was my technique, plopped in a feather and problem solved.

Just purchased this product from Walmart. I wanted to try wet shaving without spending a lot of money. I found it to be very mild and not as hard as I thought it would be. I did two passes not pressing hard as I am used to doing with multi blade disposables. Are there other blades I could try in this razor?Excellent video that helped me a lot.

Try some BIC blades, Astra or Feather. Then, buy a Rockwell safety razor and a Twig razor from Leaf Shaving!
