I have to say I greatly appreciate this guy. Especially being that he comes from a system unfortunately known for its “tribalism” and infighting, he stays clear of the gossip, and is focused on communicating the art (which he does very effectively). DO NOT listen to anyone who talks trash about him, he’s the real deal. Definitely going to look him up when this whole look down is over.

Nice!!! I also studied arnis and double sticks. But in street fighting the common fights are karate, boxing, knife duel and hand gun duel. In our place in Mindanao, one must be expert or else you can't go home.

Paul, I really enjoy practicing Kali and how you are able to logically integrate the didactical teachings of Kali as you parallel those teachings with the clinical aspect thru " Drills / Hand to Hand Combat / Weapons Training " in a real time scenario of workouts that you instill in me. Paul, please keep them coming along.

Kali is beautiful and formidable. I wouldn't want to get in the way of that buzzsaw of the double sinawali. In my system we've done a little bit of single stick tambo, basically same weapon although I can't say that I've ever taken a deep dive into kali. Question; while these techniques certainly would hurt the sticks themselves don't seem to have enough mass to them that they would disable. Cause pain? Absolutely. But I wonder about their effect on a disciplined, or drugged or very heavily clothed attacker. Any comments?

Just curious, is your background Pekiti Tersia? It appears so from your chamber position? Just wondering what your lineage is? Also, the uppercut from the right side...I've not seen that referred to as angle 4. I know there are many numbering systems and I know several but curious as to the flow of that system that would give an uppercut on the right side as a number 4? Always open to learning new variations :)
@elconquistador9921
@elconquistador9921 4 жыл бұрын
In Pekiti Tirsia the uppercut strikes are number 3 & 4, while in La Costa/ Inosanto Kali, they are numbered 11 & 12...and the 3 & 4 are mid-level horizontal strikes. I often take new people, unfamiliar to the Filipino martial arts, and let them gain coordination, spatial relationship and confidence by having them do a downward X, followed by upper cuts. ( 1 & 2, 3 & 4 in PTK). It seems to get the people saying, wow, I think I can do this. Hahahaha When I train with GT Leo Gaje, I have to remember to stay in PTK mode because he's hard as nails and will 👊💀. Guro Dan Inosanto is much more forgiving. Hahahaha
@chrisdunnettmusic
@chrisdunnettmusic 4 жыл бұрын
@@elconquistador9921 Thanks for the clarification and that makes total sense. My experience in PTK is limited as I am much more familiar with Guro Inosanto as he is one of my main teachers - was just with him Yesterday and Today in St. Louis training. PTK is awesome I just haven't had as much exposure as I have with other systems. Thanks :)

@kikyotv7128
@kikyotv7128 3 жыл бұрын
I think it can sometimes depend on how big your body is 28" should be average, if i recall correctly it can also go up to 36" or down to 24" if you're confident with 28" then that should be fine.
