This is the second chapter of my Sinawali series, adding on to the previous Heaven Six + Tornado Spin combination with the inclusion of the Tornado Cut. This pattern involves a hand-over-hand motion, cutting around the head and unsheathing from the armpit. Please watch and review part one before practicing or commenting. Thanks!

Glenn R About 2 years ago I saw a video from Bladesociety about Filipino knife fighting. I then made it a point to do a self-study of the Filipino Martial Arts. Wmpyr was one of those most influential on me in my training, and most importantly, on my channel. Our efforts are dedicated to you, the community, and the preservation of all martial arts! Thank you!

Definitely not easy! I prefer to keep the blade in mind when using sticks so, when you have your "sword" go through your pit like that.. I can't help but think you're slicing yourself. I'll probably change the placement of that strike to accommodate a bladed style. Other than that, I can't wait to get to work on this drill~
@SakanLam

Thank you. For betterment, what do you recommend is more important? Leaning the movements and practicing on a dummy? Or just randomly wailing the sticks on the dummy. Also for how long should I practice one set of movement on the dummy? I am trying to get better. Thank you and God is blessed
@SakanLam
@SakanLam 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Khadijah. The most important thing is to relax and build coordination with your movements and the weapon. Try to get as many reps as you can once you have the technique down by memory. Avoid randomly wailing sticks on the dummy. Once you can do the technique without thought, then you can freestyle with it. Blessings.

it was hard to hear but did you say live steel? if so at 0:48 you would draw the blade across your armpit.
@SakanLam
@SakanLam 8 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Lalonde Yeah you would certainly end up cutting yourself if you used a live blade using this drill. I encourage my students to imagine the sticks as blades so that they hit at the proper angles. This is from the Kabbarroan system, so certainly must be an adapted stick style modified from the bladed arts.

I've ran it with swords. Wanted to ensure my angles were clean while learning it, before switching back to sticks. I obviously had to invert the pull through chamber on the additional set of cuts so it was the backblade drawing along my arm, but it does work.
