Wow, I've not seen this since I was a kid, but I always remembered the intro song, and where he pulls his belt, such nostalgia, love it, amazing how the years fly by......

This song has stayed in my mind for the last 50 years. Every once in a while, it would come back, especially the part where he pulls on the belt. It is amazing what the young brain retains.

"He pulls it tight with all his might..." This is just scary. I'm 46 and remember the opening tune so well. I remember my brother and I putting on one of dad's leather belts and pull it tight then kick the crap out of each other. Every little piece of this animated opening tune is burried somewhere deep in my brain and re-experiencing it is awesome. Thanks!

This is the second version of the show after it was picked up by HannaBarberra. The original shows in black and white had a different theme song, (which I preferred), and a different sound with lightening bolts when he pulled his belt. I remember them liked they were on just yesterday. It was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid.

Thankyou. The words I remember are different to this one, so perhaps I remember the same one as you. Something like, "with Salty the parrot by his side, he'll come home again, so shiver me timbers, strike the sail and wake the Skipper up, (parrot screeches), over the bounding maine."

@Astraldragon1 This was one of my favorite cartoons back in the early 70s. I had forgotten about it completely until just this morning when I was getting dressed. I put on my belt and tightened it a little too much. What popped out of my mouth at that moment was the line, "Sinbad the Sailor! A magical belt has he..." Thanks for posting this Muttley. 'Tis a shame that there isn't a collection of these available on Netflix. Hopefully a few episodes will at least surface here on KZbin.

This was produced by Hanna-Barbera for American-International Television in 1965. About half the episodes were produced by H-B; the rest by Sam Singer's ["BUCKY & PEPITO", "COURAGEGOUS CAT & MINUTE MOUSE"] production outfit.

Yep, that sounds about right, Steve. I believe American-International had some reservations about the quality of Singer's episodes, and brought H-B in to fulfill the remainder of the contract.

Yes, it was none other than Mel Blanc himself. He did character voices in several of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons including Mr. Spacely from 'The Jetsons', Barney Rubble from 'The Flintstones' and that long-tailed agent, Secret Squirrel.

Here in California watche dit with Bob Allister. The stock cues and orchestral pop novelties intbetween skits there often appealed to me more than the aongs by the sundry guests! Sam Singer did the earlier one from 1965.

AIP produced the earlier Sam Singer version of these cartoons, so I'm guessing there were some IP rights issues involved, hence the two studios' byline.

I remember watching this in Britain during the Nineteen Seventies. It would appear (I think) on the Southern ITV franchise just before the regional news. Always wished the episodes had been longer as much of the five minutes - felt like it was even shorter to this six year old - seemed to be taken up by the theme song at either end. Thank you to the uploader.

Forever ago, when I was a child, I LOVED the "Sinbad (jr) the Sailor" catoons. It seemed to me that I never got to watch them. Finding this on KZbin really touched a nostagic note for me. I hope you do post the Sinbad cartoons, somewhere, someone will be grateful I am sure.

It’s so easy to imagine the character as a woman. I just can’t help imagining the cartoon being adapted as a full length live action feature film with either Mila Kunis or Sarah Hyland as a female version of Sinbad.
