It's difficult to play Bonham stuff, period. Or at least it takes a while to grasp his music. But to nail a song like this that so improvisational, is beyond commendable. Hats off George.

Three key techniques to playing Bonzo's stuff IMO [in order of difficulty]: a. the bass drum flutter that many refer to as bass drum triplets b. orchestrating RLF & LRF & FRL & FLR around the kit c. knowing that Bonham's favorite beat displacement is 4& on snare The bass drum trick is sliding the foot up and down the footplate of the bass pedal to achieve the rebound note, like dribbling a basketball close to the floor. You'll feel it when you've got it happening correctly.

really appreciate that. yes, that is very difficult at times, to try to capture the lightening. I could always do better and its a testament to his greatness that its still so elusive!

Jesus.. I had to cool down a little after this! Can't believe how you're able to mimick his dynamics and feel so well.

Sensational George. What is really apparent is how Bonzo would accentuate and enhance the other instruments - vocals included - to provide excitement and reinforcement.

Of the many drummers who have attempted to cover John Bonham - and there have been some good ones - you are sir, by far, the best! 👏👏

That's why I love Bonham! Every time I hear that version it sends chills down my spine. Also along with the other version of this song on HTWWW. This is why I play the drums and why ONLY Bonham!! Thanks George... You played it perfect!!!!!!!!

Well done. As a mega Zeppelin fan I've spent my life listening. I play drums a little. This is superbly played the best Bonham cover of "Since I've Been Loving You" that I've heard!

6:19 Maybe my favourite part in all of the Led Zeppelin lifespan ever. You can just hear the heartfelt pain coming from Robert. It's like you're almost there with him while he is on his knees crying in his house. I've heard more versions of the same song, but this one is by far the best in my opinion. Thank you for the amazing upload! :)

I remember an interview with Percy about the intense pressure he felt trying to emote vocally with Page and Peter Grant staring at him through the glass while he recorded his part of SIBLY for LZIII. The best review of Zep's BBC Sessions claimed 'there's not a tentative note on here.' That also sums up the way you perform the challenging drum groove and time signature of this tune, George: excellent as always, and up to your own high standard. And that ain't no apple polish, brah!

Cheers Daryl, many thanks! It can always be better though, this one is really a challenge to capture and stay relaxed and elastic but still play heavy ...all the dynamic shifts!
