During the summer of 1979, Led Zeppelin performed two concerts at Knebworth Stadium in England. While sound-checking prior to the first show, the band was playing "Trampled Underfoot" when Jimmy Page saw Bonzo standing out where the audience would soon be. So he turned around, and to his surprise and delight, saw Jason BEHIND THE DRUMS! He started to smile and laugh. When John Paul Jones saw Jimmy laughing, HE turned around, saw Jason playing, and started smiling and laughing, too! After they finished the song, Bonzo went back up onstage and said to his three bandmates--by then, Robert Plant was smiling and laughing, too--and said, "Now I can actually say I SAW Led Zeppelin!"

I met Jason back in the early 90s in a music store. Nice guy. His guitarist was with him, a very Jimmy Page looking guy. I can't recall what the band was called. I can't believe he has grey hair now! Time flies

Instantly Jason Bonham takes you there as if you were listening to his father during a live concert. He's every bit as incredible.
@picassoboy524 жыл бұрын
No he isn't. Not even close. Not in technique or innovation. So many people are looking at him through rose colored glasses because of his last name. A good professional drummer of course. But he's no better than any other rock drummer. He has his dads name but that's all. Every bit as incredible? No way. Listen on you tube to his dads isolated drums on Fool in the Rain. So much smoother and more precise. No comparison. Have a great day

Mystery Painter I couldn’t agree more. He’s a good, basic, solid classic rock drummer. No innovation, no definable style or sound, nothing to set him apart from millions of other drummers in the same style. I’m not a John Bonham fan boy, but no one can deny his contribution to the drumming legacy and development. Jason is just a good drummer with a great last name. And there’s nothing wrong with that, I’m glad he has a career!

not comparing him to his pops, not fair to do. Jason has a nice groove.
@eddie-sf7hn4 жыл бұрын
His groove is real nice but is too smooth for Zeppelin. John B had an enormous groove. Also, Jasons snare hits are dragging. Great for early 90s grunge. He's rock solid. Damn fine drummer, but not a clone of his father.
@DefektaMods4 жыл бұрын
He got the groove and he is so good. And his namn is Bonham.....could you ask for more???
@brianpoole34844 жыл бұрын
But it is fair. He is the one that chose to wear his fathers shoes. He is a great drummer, but not like his daddy John. John was an explosive drummer, although when I saw Zeppelin in 77, they sucked.
@DefektaMods4 жыл бұрын
Brian Poole , and when I saw them 79, it was almost finished. But, they were Led Zeppelin with some great songs and a back catalogue that still remains up till this day. That’s why we still love them and Jason that hold the Zeppelin flag high. In my opinion anyway.
@pullthereins4 жыл бұрын
Vincent Brady I imagine outside of the compliments that John received, that he himself may have not thought of himself as a great drummer or a pioneer of any sorts. Which is why his performance always triumphed his peers, colleagues and Predecessors

@@BorisTheSpyder agreed! I couldn’t stand his drumming with his band Bonham, if I’m honest. He was a young bull showing his chops (which I understand) but he overplayed quite a bit. When he matured and learned to be more musical, he became a monster.
