@@ceryscarter2062 ???? How would not pleading guilty to something she actually is guilty of, having lied to the police and attacked Laurie in public, prevent Laurie from doing anything to anyone? This development here, is just pure nonsense. Had Sami been anything of a lawyer firstly he would have prevented Sinead from spilling her guts to the police in the first place, so instead of Sinead saying she DELIBERATELY LIED cause she was afraid of not being believed because of the photo on Facebook, Sami would have - WITHOUT DIRECTLY INSTRUCTING HER; CAUSE THAT WOULD BE A VIOLATION - informed Sinead of the various charges she could be faced with, depending on the explanation the police got to hear from her. Included in that legal information would have been a scenario where Sinead mixed up two dates (first and the second of April), not intentionally, but by mistake, and Sami could have told her that if she didn`t deliberately lied about the date - just mixed up two dates close to each other - that would not be enough to charge her for anything. Provided she corrected the mistake by informing the police, and had a good explanation to why she mixed up the two dates. So if Sinead went to the police and told them she had given the wrong date cause she remembered the incident took place the day Laurie returned from camp, she had just assumed that to be a day different to what it actually was, but now she knew she had been mistaken about the date, and therefore wanted to correct her statement. Had she done, her statement would have been in line with Sienna`s, the police could not have arrested her for attempting to corrupt the cause of justice and she would not have lost her cool with Laurie in the shop. And the rape charges against Laurie would not have been dropped - more likely been strengthened as the police worked their way back in time of Laurie`s life, likely discovering other victims with similar stories to Sinead and Sienna. Which, since neither Sinead nor Sienna is likely to have known Laurie`s previous victims, would have increased their credibility as witnesses that they were telling the truth - and Laurie was not. The more victims that surfaced, the more charges likely would have been raised against Laurie. He would have been suspended from Dee Valley High, and not even be allowed near it, or any other school, while awaiting trial. It was Sinead herself who caused herself to be locked behind bars, by attacking Laurie in public. That gave both the police and the judge very few other options. but to keep Sinead behind bars, to prevent her from attacking Laurie again. So all this could have been avoided, if only Sami had done a better job, and informed Sinead of the legal consequences she could be facing, based upon the interpretation of the facts in the case, back when Sinead first approached him with the news she had given the wrong date for the rape in her police interview. Now, the charges against Laurie having been dropped as a result of Sinead admitting to have lied about the date of the alleged rape, nothing regarding the rape or the sexual harassment of Sienna, or anything else - except Sinead lying to the police in her statement, and her attack on Laurie in Price Slice - would be allowed mentioned in court. So Sinead would never have had her say about what Laurie did to her, even if she pleaded not guilty. Cause her trial was not about what Laurie had done to her, but that she both had lied to the police and attacked Laurie. Had she pleaded guilty, she would have had a chance to explain why she did what she did when the judge heard her before deciding on a sentence for her. The lighter the sentence, the stronger an indication it would have been the judge believed Sinead. Sami should have explained all of this to Sinead, as soon as he heard she believed a not guilty verdict would give her a chance to be heard in court. It wouldn`t, cause her trial would have been about the charges brought against her (lying to the police and attacking Laurie) - not the dropped charges which had been against Laurie. She would have been the one on trial - not Laurie. And that she caused herself, by first lying to the police, and then admitting to deliberately have lied - and after that again by even attacking Laurie in a public place in front of witnesses. Sinead acted stupid beyond belief, and Sami did a very poor job of representing her and advising her about her legal options - as a result she ended up in the dock, instead of Laurie.

Have to admit, as much as I love Hollyoaks, there are a few actors that are...quite bad at acting. Really blown away by Stephanie Davis’ performance in this storyline though! Her acting is phenomenal, she’s only gotten better over the years!
