This performance gets to the heart of Janacek... (Also great music to make to love to...)

Felicitaciones. Hermosa y conmovedora versión. La orquesta tocó magníficamente y el director supo como realzar la genial instrumentación del Janacek. Excelente trabajo

This is actually a very mellow reading of a symphony that in the wrong hands can get a bit out of control. I'd probably describe it as safe but that's not bad. I'd definitely send someone new to this brilliant symphony to this video.

This is quite extraordinary. Hrusa has total command and cooperation from the Tokyo orchestra and must have rehearsed this just enough to have success without losing the wild roughness Janacek wrote into the piece. Trombones are screaming, trumpets sounding like natural ones and he controls the dynamics of the woodwinds and strings with a shot of genius. Hrusa is a bit like a Kubelik or Ancerl for our own times but will expand his repertoire at his own pace and probably be one of the greats of this century.

Meni veći deo zvuči raštimovano. Lepša je svaka truba na Guči

I totally agree! In my opinion this friendly man is the best conductor of our days, especially for Czech repertoire. I heard him live one day with Josef Suk's Asrael symphony. This was an hour of concert which set a golden standard! Although this oevre is quite unknown, the audience around me was so emotional! Conducting this remarkable symphony was btw. his graduation work.

@@LorenzKerscher Agree, from what I’ve heard on Y.T and other sources I would say Jakub Hrusa is possibly the finest conductor around today, certainly of the late Romantic/early 20th c repertoire. This is overall the best performance I’ve heard since that made by Claudio Abbado with the L.S.O. around 1969/70

It´s a good performance but those dead faces... so horribly depressing! I come from the region where this was written, and it´s a region of wine, plum brandy, chatting and traditional festivities! These musicians look like they hate their work, like they´re sitting at office tables. Hrůša looks like he desperately wants to remind them they´re actually alive.
