I don’t have trouble staying on my part, I have trouble trying to figure out what note I should sing just from the note of the song. Like I always go too high or flat. It’s annoying. I love singing with my friends, but it would be so cool if I could harmonize on the spot.

Take in a deep breath and when you sing, breathe in the air and keep it deep below your chest, if you sing from your stomach area, using your diaphragm, sing and slowly increase your volume and also your note pitch to see where your vocal range is without singing in falsetto (that head/girly voice if your are male) and do so until you start to either voice crack or become raspy

Gina Perez there's a free app called vandito that's helpful because it gives you a visual representation of the notes and if you're hitting them. Also a singing app called smule, they have a paid vip membership but you can join into some duets other people have started for free. You don't actually have to post it, you can just sing for practice and delete at the end. There's a huge range from amazing professional singers to total beginners. It shows you the lyrics and some songs also have that visual target to hit the notes accurately. I could sing ok as a kid but once I grew up I became just awful but I've always loved singing. I've been practicing with those apps as well and just singing and although I'm still not good I'm definitely better!

Thank you, Anna. It is so good to return to the basics again and again. As a well trained singer-songwriter on the piano, is it so relaxing and helpful just to concentrate on the voice and the tune and on 'simple'chords. Indeed, to find the tone, the simple tone, is the magic of music. It can never be too simple to learn more and more to wrap yourself up, to dive deeper down into the VOICE, into your own divine instrument.

I will be liking and subscribing I do hope you have much content but I hope even more you see how thankful I am when I go to church or wake up singing or go to work come home from work while doing my work I want you to know you are getting me to where I must be because I’ve been holding this back for too long . As a fun only kind of singer I woke up with an itch to learn about singing harmony today and have had zero vocal training and haven't talked music in over a decade. After watching lots of harmony training videos this one is my favorite as of now. Although, in every video I felt like there was something missing for the true beginners. Your video caught me because you gave a second in the beginning to at least comment-recommend on the feeling in the body when singing a note which is what I was focusing on beforehand, so perfect! What is catching me off guard with each instructor (and I know there are many more videos out there I haven't watched) is that we students are not instructed to sing the name of the note... we're doing "Ah's". For me, being able to sing the notes C, C, D, E, F in "Ah's"... and then later find the note by myself is complicated as I haven't effectively learned what C sounds like just that I can make different "Ah" sounds (obviously most of us recognize the song intro you're using so memory may kick in without actually knowing the name of the notes to being sung). So, Leading into more advanced videos when I'm told to jump from "C" to "E" I can more easily recall what E sounds like. Maybe its just me on this one as I'm a simple guy. Either way, still a great video and thank you.

I have good pitch and a strong voice, but I can't sing harmony even with the music in front of me! I'm looking at my part, but my head is always following the melody! I've been working on it for months now, painstakingly. That's why I'm here. I also keep practicing at the piano with parallel thirds. I sing with the bottom line or the top line, and then take out the line I'm singing, ie. singing bottom line with piano on the upper, and vice versa. I still find it surprisingly difficult and have to keep checking my intonation against the piano, because I'm inclined to go flat. I can normally sing a C major with ease, but put the harmony at a third above it and I start going flat. Frustrating!
