A passenger on the flight from London to Singapore which experienced sudden severe turbulence has described his ordeal to Sky News.
Josh Silverstone said there was a "huge bang" and he woke up "on the floor" with people crying, covered in blood and the ceiling falling down.
He told Sky's Asia Correspondent Cordelia Lynch the experience has made him rethink flying again in the future.
Geoff Kitchen, 73, died in the incident with dozens injured.

Please remember that many of the injured are actually members of the flight crew. They were injured and yet were still trying to help passengers. Anyone berating the flight crew needs to have more human decency. The pilots did a great job of landing the flight safely. It was an unpredictable clear air turbulence that no one, no technology, could have averted.

@@jungleboy1 99% of the Thai population will never get treated in a hospital like this. This is a private hospital in Bangkok, and the treatment is expensive. Government hospitals where the majority of Thai people are treated under the B30 healthcare scheme in Thailand are terrible, the little equipment they have is very old, they are dirty (the last one I was treated in had a family of stray cats living in the ward), and the staff are generally poorly trained. Instead of just make it a bit loose … usually first time flyers or rare holiday makers… maybe they should leave the sign on all the time…

Turbulence in the air. I actually had turbulence just before landing in Jeju kicking hard while my plane I was on was trying to land on the runway then the wind picks up to the side. Pilot had to abort the landing, immediately pulled up back into the air just to make another pass and make one more attempt because if the wind gets any stronger channelling to the side of the aircraft, the aircraft would have tipped sideways, engines may even explode.

The bins were broken by heads and other objects hitting them, according to other passengers.

@@user-ov4wr5yu4r , Those bins are flimsy, some idiot whack the bin to try to shut it and got my phone on the rucksack dislodge from it into the bin. I didn't realize it and the cleaner of the plane took it and sold it on.

This incident raise a question. As crew members are more likely to move around serving passengers, they are also more prone to injuries as compared to seated passengers. Are measures taken in the incident where all crew members are injured??

There is a protocol for crew members but unfortunately it does not prepare them for situations like this.

I think we best leave it to the airlines to sort that one out. Dont wish to escalate these things to another terrifying dystopian future of there being just robots serving us everywhere to the eradication of all human interaction.. do we

If all the injured were foreigners or not freqent flyers on that flight parh, maybe they didnt realize that tendency for some air pocket turbulence without much warning. Albeit this one was reported to be a 'very rare' bad one. With people just woken up and onto breakfast, lots of inadvertent standing / movement casualties aboard even if all the seated passengers belted up in this instance.

Possible head injury as he was rendered unconscious. He will be in for observation just to confirm it's nothing more serious such as a brain bleed. Injuries like that do not always present immediately.

Maybe time to bring back more comfortable arrangements (less packed in narrow and spaceless seats which are not comfy for long haul flights that may have tempted people to mind numbingly loosen the belts at rest/sleep). All eco seats getting too tight across all planes I think. Flight costs up, comfort down. Anyway, best wishes to all for a speedy recovery and my sincere condolences to the family of the gentleman who died from that incident. And best wishes to SIA.

It happens. However, the onboard systems and airspace controllers usually warn the pilots of turbulence ahead.
