We set out to try as much Hawker Center food in Singapore as possible in one day. We wanted the most affordable way to show off the cuisine in Singapore, so we ate where the locals eat their meals.

Tip for saving table so both of you can go exploring together - put an inexpensive thing on the table like a packet of tissue paper or cheap umbrella on it :). Chope (unofficial self-reservation lol) the table while you are away

The Singaporean in me wants to give you a litany of places to try, food to sample, but that would take hours and so I shall resist. What you need is simply the willingness to try anything, and be able to take spicy food. Which you have shown in this video! So no problem there. I just have one suggestion, which may be the best suggestion you get, or it may be the worst -- Besides trying the things that really looks good to you, you may want to make a point of trying ONE thing a day that you DO NOT THINK you would like (if it is not too expensive). Another strategy is to ACTIVELY TRY TO FIND THE WORST FOOD to try... :-) (Or the worst described or worst named food you can find). And as a counter check, you should BOTH agree to try it (just in case one of you is too adventurous, the other will be the "voice of prudence"). One more tip: If there's a queue, the food's probably outstanding! Join the queue, talk to the people in the queue, ask them what's good, and how best to eat the food (combination, sauces, add-ons, etc). EVERY Singaporean thinks that they are an expert in Singapore food, and if you find someone in a line, he (or she) probably thinks he/she knows the best way to enjoy that dish and will be happy to educate a clueless tourist! I look forward to your next video: The Worst Food We tried in Singapore! 🙂

So sad that you guys skipped Malay food but, oh well. The next time you both are here again, you can try going to the Kampung Gelam/Arab street area. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes selling middle-eastern and authentic Malay food. Kampung Gelam was historically a settlement for the Malay/muslim community here. There's also Geylang Serai but since Kampung Gelam is located right in the heart of the city, it makes it much more accessible and convenient to get to compared to Geylang Serai. The nearest MRT station would be Bugis and actually it's within walking distance to the Little India area. 😊

Thank you for visiting Singapore. 1) Durian - If you don't like it, then you don't like it. It will not be justifiable to dislike something if you have not tried it. At least you've tried. Durian is my favourite. 2) It's a bummer that it was so wet when you filmed this footage. I hope you've enjoyed Singapore despite the wet weather. 3) Singapore is known as an expensive country. Public transport is affordable. Food prices at hawker centres have increased. Restaurants are expensive. However, the things that are sky high are residential housing and automobiles. 4) Your other video about the pros and cons of Singapore - There are indeed many rules in Singapore that could surprise (or shock) tourists. Some people dislike them, while others love them. This explains why Singapore is known for her reputation, safety, cleanliness, efficiency, productivity, and organised system. 5) There are indeed many sheltered walkways. Singaporeans are pampered. 6) Utensils - One piece of advice if you ever eat at hawker centres again: Avoid placing your utensils on your tray or on the table. They are full of bacteria.

It's not almost like it's purposely done so that there's hubs. It's intentionally done such that activities centers around certain hubs. Singapore 🇸🇬 is a diverse nation whose food culture is a melting pot of flavors and aromas. The island nation is famous for its simple yet tasty street food, including Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Indonesian cuisines. Why is food culture important in Singapore? Food has always been an integral part of Singapore's culture and heritage. Our ancestors brought with them diverse tastes in food when they settled in Singapore. What is the famous food of Singapore? Chicken rice. What's unique about Singapore food? Singaporean cuisine is a combination of Chinese, Malay, Indian and other influences. It is characterized by its use of spices, herbs and other flavourful ingredients. Dishes such as chili crab, laksa and Hainanese chicken rice are staples of Singaporean cuisine. Evolved from street food culture, hawker centres have become markers of Singapore as a multicultural city-state, comprising Chinese, Malay, Indian and other cultures. Hawkers take inspiration from the confluence of these cultures, adapting dishes to local tastes and contexts. 15 Best Singaporean Foods & Dishes •Hainanese chicken rice. •Chilli crab. •Laksa. •Char kuay teow. •Hokkien prawn mee. •Barbecued stingray. •Fish head curry. •Satay.

If you like good food and not picky… every hawker centre should have sup kambing (mutton soup), Indian rojak (fried food salad combo) or Chinese rojak (saucy salad combo). Avoid Michelin ones unless you mind long queues, shoddy service and possible attitude issues and some overpriced items.
