CORRECTIONS
☞ 10:10 - Feb 28, 2008: The orange-coloured tag should indicate "CCL", not "DTL".
☞ 15:14 - Jan 7, 2019: The tag should be brown in colour with the label "TEL", not green-coloured and "EWL".
☞ 15:48, 17:45, 18:26 : Station name should be "Brickland", not "Bricklands"
☞ 17:07 - Mid 2020s: This information was accidentally omitted from the video: [Unconfirmed] Teck Lee Station is predicted to opened by the mid-2020s.
☞ 17:26 - 2026: Gek Poh and Tawas stations are planned to open together with JRL Phase 1 in 2026, not with Phase 3 in 2028.

Singapore is too small and dense for majority of the population to own cars. COE is only a stop gap measure until public transport replaces private ones. I think in the next decade or two, with 5G and smart city concept transport problems could be solved. Having more train lines and self driving taxis etc shall provide better personal transport options and parking space efficiency while grab food and online shopping etc shall reduce the need for personal travel.
@krollpeter
@krollpeter 4 жыл бұрын
@@skychaos87 1. Better is making car usage expensive, not the ownership 2. I predict Singapore will repent replacing local small business by online shopping and (close to) monopolistic US-dealers 3. Nothing is worse for a city, than having empty inner cities and empty town centres. It is killing local infrastructure and along will raise crime.
@TimothyMokCJ

Malaysia rebranded MRT to LRT, because of local perceived perception of disruption during construction. Plus, Greater KL is a lot larger in area whilst having a smaller commuting population when tourists and labour is concerned, therefore the focus on coverage and more lines are needed for the convenience of passengers.

Oh so that's why Canberra and Dover doesn't have the same standard of station as compared to the other stations. Because of they were built at a later time. Never did cross my mind that that was the reason.
@mrfweeis
@mrfweeis 4 жыл бұрын
Yes bro. There is a reason why the platform is double sided compared to the usual island platform. Cos then if it was built normally the line would hava to CLOSE so that the new station could be built (which aint so nice) so they just 'build around the tracks' such that the current service will not be severely affected. Sg govt has big brain.

@hyarany
@hyarany 4 жыл бұрын
@@PrograError thank you for pointing out the error. I've added a "Correction" section in the description. I too did wonder if I should or should not insert the TEL tag to the Extension anytime prior to the 2019 announcement of Changi Airport Extension joining TEL in the future. I eventually decide that it would be alright to do so to highlight it being part of TEL's history. It would also be somewhat similar to how Downtown Line was "born" from the announcement of Marina Line despite no initial plans to have the Chinatown Branch split into its own line. However, in hindsight, perhaps I could have explained why the Extension did receive the TEL tag prior to the 2019 announcement to avoid any confusion. Likewise, perhaps I could have given Bukit Line its own unique tag, like what I did for Changi Airport Extension, despite its short-lived history as an independent line. I was aware of its brown colour designation but I've decided to used the NSL tag instead since it eventually merge into North-South Line. I will think about these should there be another future update video (when the next LTMP comes out in perhaps 5 years time).

Stage 1 and 2 opened in 2010, then Stages 4 and 5 in 2011. Stage 6 _under a very odd name of _*_Circle Line Extension_* partially opened on Jan 14 2012. Expect he rest of Stage 6 to open by 2026.
