People preach about green this green that and just because they have a Tesla they think they're saving the earth when they're making little to no difference since they are still using their phones and charging their Tesla. The entire green movement is bullshit their power alternatives suck. The best spruce of clean power is nuclear nobody can say otherwise because countries who used solar and wind (Germany) ended up polluting more than countries who are mostly nuclear (France)

As a Singaporean, i can confirm the trash cycle is quite amazing 😄 HOWEVER, it may also indirectly be the reason we use so much waste - we never see it. We're told this is where it goes, we dont see how much we waste. Maybe it isn't such a good thing after all - not being able to see and realise just how many natural resources we waste every day.
@herkerr3 жыл бұрын
Well if your infrastructure can handle it in under 24 hour, you don’t make too much waste. 2 concerns: - Recycling should still be promoted - Hope the ash pool is not just another landfill at the end of the day (toxic materials etc… should be handled)

One flaw with this process is that it is really but REALLY expensive, and not every country can afford to go green and the ones that can, don’t really care most of the time, most people care about the short term progress and modernization but do not think about the future, plus, it doesn’t even matter, global warming isn’t a big issue, pollution isn’t a big problem, because all of these things affect the world in such a minimal way, it doesn’t really make an impact, global warming is a natural progress where the earth gets hotter and hotter and once it’s too hot gets colder and colder again and it goes like that in a cycle, that’s ice age periods happened...

That’s a great idea and really makes perfect sense. Wondering though, what medium are they using to burn the trash 24/7? Is the fire self sustaining? Also a great idea to use that heat to generate electricity but from this video it indicates a the whole city. I don’t think there is enough heat to do that - perhaps a portion of the energy needed. Also, they certainly can’t burn metal waste such as food cans so there must be some sort of recycling separation of combustibles from noncombustibles. Therefore, what does Singapore do with the noncombustibles? I would think through their normal recycling processes. Some ideas are going around to use food garbage to produce methane gas to help supplement natural gas usage. All these thoughts on recycling will certainly come together to make our Earth a better and safer place.
@theinvisiblecameraman17113 жыл бұрын
I think the fire is sustained by the trash. As one trash burns fire spreads on other trash then if they add more trash the trash keeps burning so i think the trash is the fuel themselves. Pretty smart idea of Singapore to do so

I’m pretty sure one of my teachers, maybe my AP environmental science teacher, told us why this isn’t actually a good solution. I can’t remember the exact details but the toxic pollution will eventually get into the surrounding environment, whether it’s seeping into the ground and eventually making its way to surrounding bodies of water, or other ways that I can’t quite remember. It’s a nice concept and it would be great if there really weren’t any consequences, but sadly, there are still consequences.

It's called lechite I cannot spell it but it's what the toxic stuff from plastics, card board, electronics waste, metallic and minerals and other things just because you burnt all of the stuff does not mean that you got it all the ash is made up of stuff like glass, polymers, carbon, metals, microfibers and other things the list goes on the best current method is to melt down what can be melted so metals, glass and polymers and tearing the fibers of less harmful fibers so card board, paper and clothes and composting organic trash and the rest is unsustainable like fiber optic, coffee strainers, some polymers, oil and some others that I am forgetting. In other words no recycling is sustainable because of the stuff we use because they are more affordable for production. btw the usa is god awful at their trash system you can still read the news papers from the 60s like they were new because the air is still in their pits. I used to work in the recycling sector in canada and that is were I learned this stuff
@darkstars1013 жыл бұрын
Well, the toxic biproducts from the filtering process don’t just disappear. Instead they’re filtered from a gas into a toxic liquid or solid waste. And when you dump that into a lake, whether it’s connected or not, it absorbs into the atmosphere via condensation, and then rains into the ocean anyways. Or absorbs into the ground soil. Either way, the earth always works towards some sort of equilibrium, so all of our actions have consequences somewhere. Like the butterfly effect.

Surely this can simply be done in every city? Since this is a city, and this system works for it as a city, then it must be that it would also work for other cities.

@@rokmun680 there are so many complexities that one needs to think of. Singapore population is 5m. Do you know that Singapore is like number 66 on the list of population in a city? Number 1 is Tokyo, with like almost 40m. That means the logistics, buildings and infrastructure one needs to get in place within the city to do something like this are rather impracticable just on population alone. And not every city has access to water that doesn’t touch the ocean. And don’t get me started on the mechanics of creating electricity from this, considering existing infrastructure in many countries. My point is, we should applaud Singapore for what they are doing. But it is rather naive to expect everyone to do the same.

A very good point highlighting that fact this is easy implementation in a small country, however, this could be used to serve a bigger nation across different provinces, districts and the large spaces between when there is an honest will to go about doing things in an effective way. Starting to do something that will benefit both people and the environment they live in an honourable and positive thought to start with. If we all can dream to be rich and successful, we can dream the same and make a change. When we remain optimistic and start on a simple idea, it goes a long way. Like they always say, ROME wasn't built in a day.

We not gonna talk about recycling, the massive amounts of co2 that gets released into the air? Sounds like a cheap way to get rid of trash without having to build a bunch of recycling centers. If we want a green earth, we can't take shortcuts.

Bruh did u guys not hear we filter the smog into fresh air so this is not destroying the planet dummys and also we have more plants compared to the Co2 WE so this problem is already solved i mean stop trying to find cracks in the country to make it look bad and we sure are polluting less than america bitch

@@DrPotato0 1) Filters are needed to neutralize toxic substances, carbon dioxide is not such. 2) The production of such filters requires a developed chemical industry, and it is not harmless to nature. 3) It is much easier to improve the environment in a city-state because of its very small size. Scientists would not sound the alarm if the problem of ecology was solved so simply.
