Singapore - Waterloo Street 四马路 | Chinese New Year 2023

The area around Waterloo Street, 四马路 is busy during Chinese New Year. The Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple is a Chinese Buddhist temple of importance to the Chinese. It is believed to bring worshippers good luck after praying to Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy.
Trishaw Uncle - Singapore Trishaw Tours - is located there. Albert Centre has a wholesale market for dried and preserved food and a Hawker Centre for cheap and nice meals. Fu Lu Shou Complex is the place to go for Buddhist and Taoist religious items.

Waterloo street is so dead now compares to the 90s. I remember during the 90s and early 2000s the entire street was filled with full life. The street would bustled with many artisans and merchants plying their very unique trades and services, like fortune-telling using parrot and snakes, yes snakes ! There were even acrobatic performances too, Sometime if you are lucky enough you may encounter a very special story-telling booth!! I remembered the uncle would share what life was like during the Japanese occupation and his ghost-hunting journey! One of my favorite was the dog performances, I still remember vividly it was 2 dogs, one white and the other was black, they would attract a large crowd especially children like me :D. Bygone the good old days of waterloo street, as Singapore marches towards western commercialization. One thing for sure, this place had created so many unforgettable memories into each and every Singaporean and will forever lives in our heart.
