Hi! Truly blessed to have “rescued” this machine and its cabinet at a thrift shop. Had it professionally cleaned, and new motor installed, and this beauty runs like a champ! The previous took mighty good care of the machine per the professional Singer technician. I said “rescued” because I couldn’t see it being discarded or destroyed in anyway. Oh! It came with the buttonhole machine and it makes those really really nicely, and the box of different feet. Found an original manual too!

I have a 15-91. Got it at a local thrift store with a cabinet. It's now cleaned and oiled - running great. Question to all those owners and users out there: what do you think about the location of the thread tensioner? I use my left hand to raise the presser foot and always hit it.

Really a sweet machine, 1591 is rugged and super strong. You will treasure these. I love mine.

@@JebbAdams yes, probably poorly for over 55 yrs. I make my own camping/mountaineering gear. Today I sew alot of neckerchief, with custom slides. I free hand embroider tree silhouette on them. I'm a Bonsai artist and that's what I sew. Old trees. Thanks for asking. I have enjoyed all of your videos to this point. I'll keep going. Ken

Make sure you look over all the wiring. I got a State version of this machine that was running great. After thorough cleaning and investigation I found many crimped spots in the wiring as well as split areas. The motor was still good but even after an attempt to repair the wiring it was faulty.

Thanks for the video! These machines are not only elegant, but very capable. I got my hands on a 1932 Nickel badged 15-91 and I cant stop looking at it lol. Absolutely obsessed right now. The paint on yours is immaculate!

I wish I could find information regarding the State brand version of this machine online. So many stated it’s universal to these singers but it isn’t completely. The shuttle hook was different and very hard to find. Mine was made in Japan and in the original cabinet.

Hi. I have 2 15J’s; both 15-91’s, made in Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Québec, Canada. I am not familiar with the Japan model. I could not find US Singer 15. Would like to find out more about both. Thanks for this info, Mimi!

Where is she! Lol! Greetings Rebecca W! Lucky you! What is your 15-91's story & condition! Patricia here is a pretty sewing machine. There is another one here, still on sabbatical from it's restoration.

@@JebbAdams kind of a long story but I ended up needing to sew a cat bed for my moms cat. (Mom passed away 6 years ago). Anyway my modern machine had issues going through multiple layers so I decided to find a 15-91. I found one on marketplace. Went and picked her up. When I opened her case it smelled just like one of the rooms my mom spent a lot of time in. It was one of those indescribable moments. Well I brought her home, made the cats bed and now I am rewiring her. I’ve run into a few issues but just keep working through them.

@@rebeccaw6 What a wonderful story Rebecca! That is so healing that you have your Mom's cat! I like your idea of "just keep working through them."! Thanks for the reply Rebecca! Peace!

Ive noticed that my machines in great condition with little wear have much brighter decals then the ones that have had more use??? Strange I thought! Just thought I'd ask. Thanks for sharing! Great machine!👍🏽😁

Greetings My Sewful Empty Nest! Well, the machines that led comfortable lives have bright decals. But I have a few 'train wrecks' here that could use decal work. I haven't ventured into decals yet but I should! Thanks! Please visit again!
