I think the needle was down in the fabric when you moved the knobs to darn, could that have been why the needle broke? I just got this same exact model running and now I have to master the knob positions. I love it’s simplicity and it is indeed a workhorse. Thanks for sharing your video.

Is the model, tear all metal parts. I'm looking for nonplastic parts, haven't used a machine since the late 80s early 90s. Homemaking used a singer in 1960s.

Which way does the needle go in. I know it threads left to right, but the needle hole goes front to back. The machine won’t pick up the bobbin thread. Help!

If the machine threads from left to right, the needle groove must be on the left the flat side to the right.
