Thankyou David for your lovely video and for showing the lovely machine . I have a 1908 hand crank Singer but haven’t started using it yet. I don’t want to break something so I appreciate your informative film. It gives me a better idea how to start .

Thank your for posting! I inherited a 1905 28K (according to the serial numbers) but its exactly like yours - even the decals (though the box needs regluing, and the lock doesn't work). So looking forward to learning how to clean and oil it and learn how to sew!

when you fill a bobbing always start it with the feed arm on one side not the middle like in this vid it can cause issues because if the thread goes on lumpy sometimes it can jam up

I use this machine to sew marine canvas as it does a better job than a modern machine

I have a 28K VS machine but having problems to get the machine to stitch at all. I have looked at a lot of videos on how to thread and insert the shuttle, I have tried to get the tension right and he stitch length by adjusting the nuts and screws but not able to get anything. THe needle goes up and down okay and the shuttle carriage moves freely. I just don’t know what else to try and would love to try and make something on it. She is a 1906 model. Have you any advice please or any videos that could help me.

It could be that the machine timing could be out

Thanks David. I think I have got her working okay, but how would I adjust the timing if i needed to in the future. Can you link a video to assist?

@@lorraineetherington1728 I tried to edit a comment because I found where you could get the info for yourself. But the comment disappeared. I may have broken some rule I'm not aware of. If you'd still like it (if this comment posts) have a look for info that tells you about setting the shuttle clearances as well as adjusting the timing. Some things have to be done first for it to work properly if that was the source of the problem.
