I have been a leather-smith for close to 40 years, and ALL my stitching has been done by hand. Recently, within this decade, I have purchased the tear-outs of an awning shop and have acquired a setup such as yours, in this video. I'm watching to see how the BELTS are installed and how to do the bobbin, and the operation of the machine. I have a friend's purse that the shoulder strap just broke off of, today. I gave her an ammo-box to put her stuff in till she got home, and I took hers with me to fix. I've had the machine about 3 years and just haven't invested the time to learn it yet. This project will be the nest way to incorporate the machine into my hobbies. THANK YOU FOR A GOOD VIDEO. I just wish it had gone more into the setup. Maybe some more of your videos will, as I intend to binge watch them. I just subbed.

I inherited what I believe is this exact machine with the leather belt drive. The table looks identical as well. One owner and I have all the paperwork and manuals. Even the original receipt. I’d like to sell it. In southern New Hampshire.

What v belt do you have on it? And did you have to change the wheel out to fit it?

I own one.By watching this video I noticed you forgot to stop the bobin loader system. It turns without any bobin in it. It creates a useless noise and also will damage the belt by the time. To stop it just pull the small mecanism towards yourself.

I'm hard of hearing so I don't notice the noise.

Hi I was wondering what kind of walking footer will fit on the 31-15 singer industrial?
@BlacksPorsche9862 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of walking foot attachments so I have no recommendations.

By the way. I have three 31-15's and 5 other industrial machines that use the same needle.

Good video. I wish you would show sewing some leather and do we need special needles to sew leather?
@roanhielkema57145 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. It depends on how thick the leather you want to sew is and how you want your stitching to look. I make jeans on a Singer 31-32 (which is essentially the same as a 31-15 but with reverse) and I have no issues sewing leather patches onto jeans of about 1/8th" thick. A little more wound't be a problem either but more than that you would probably want a heavier machine anyway. If I would sew say, a leather jacket, I would definitely select a dedicated leather point needle to produce the stitch appearance I want to have. Leather needles (as pretty much all sewing machine needles are) are designated by a letter/letter combo to specify the point type. Most common is LR, but there are many others. Regular needles are (usually) designated R, but again, these come in many variants all with different suffixes. Hope that helps. Websites like the thread exchange have pretty comprehensive lists of most common types for most purposes.

Very impressed - not necessarily with the machine (although it's very nice) but with your feed control skills! That was a really nice curved seam you knocked out there! (Am kind of wondering why you repeated the first 1:14 worth of video. . . thought there was something wrong with KZbin when your overview/intro started to replay.)
