I am here with a singer machine that I think is even older than yours. I am wondering if yours ties the stitch off for you or if you do that by hand?

@@maesinger1444 none of the hand crank machines will tie the stitch off for you - unless it has a reverse lever. Mine does not. In order to "lock" the stitch at the beginning and end of each seam, I take 2 stitches, lift the presser foot, pull the work back to the beginning and stitch over those 2 stitches again - then keep on stitching to the end of the seam. Then once again, I pull the work to go back over the last 2 stitches If you don't like that method, then adjust your stitch length to be very short and then you don't need to "back tack" - the very short stitches won't pull out.
