Yes, This model along with the 15 class Singers are some of the toughest ever produced for home use. Strong claim, but I think the machines can back it up.

That's the one I sought out and bought for 50$ I had to rewire it all, simple thing. its in queen Ann table I like the fact that I believe this is the Rolls-Royce because I don't care for a potted motor you can't beat the 66 I have a EALRY leverage adjustable buttonholer and a zigzagger attachment for it and I bought I owners manual I'm testing different tuck markers at the moment

I have a singer 66 I'm working on, & the two screws holding the needle plate on are stuck... I can't get them loose at all and I'm trying not to force them... any suggestions? I'm leery of using like wd40 of something like that because it's so close to the lacquer...

I had the same problem on one one time I had to lay a soldering iron on the screw-head for three days as I soaked it with WD-40 and then heat so I finally had to whack it with a large chisel on one edge of the screw I used to have to do that on motorcycle engines

sewing machine people ,, these are machines. when you're working with stuck screws an nuts, bolts you have to use WD-40 and the heat of a old soldering iron, that's on All the time. Propped up directly on the screw. or any penetrating oil.

WD-40 won't hurt the lacquer If it's just a screw plate mask off the band you don't need much WD-40 to help break loose a screw

Does this machine have a reverse?

Yes Jennifer. While it does not have "Direct Feed" reverse like Singer 201s and 15-91's had, this version of the 66 was built after Singer updated the model with a reverse "Back Tack" feature where the stitch length lever adjustment is raised to the highest position and you can sew back several stitches to lock in the seam. This same feature was added to Singer 99s around the same time.

Back tack is reverse. My machine is just like that does it have a name?as in the style . When you put it in backtac it will sew all day long in reverse.👉 ( Those machines won't go back a few stitches, and then stop ,..hmm Mine keeps going it's just like that, I love the white lever.

For the vintage era machines, Singer produced an early ZigZag model which did not succeed in the marketplace. The Singer 206, 306, and 319 models were that first generation. Singer went back to the drawing boards in the 1950's with the Singer 400 and 500 Series. The 600 Series was a further evolution of that Slant Shank design and were called Touch & Sew.
