In this episode, we'll look at a Singer 99 from 1929 that I recently picked up. It has some horrid wiring issues, so we'll be taking the electricals apart, rewiring, them putting her back together using some panel mount connectors for the power and foot controls. This is in the "bench side chat" format and runs a lot longer than usual. There will be a separate video showing work on the controller and power cord. Oh yes, please excuse my type at 1:28-ish into the video, I sometimes miss stuff in the middle of the night!

I always learn something new from your videos. 😊 An hour video is just the right amount of time to learn from watching a video. That's the length of time for any college class. 👍

I think all of your videos are great. Though a lot of them don't pertain to my machines, seeing your solutions and learning about these machines is never a waste. Thanks for sharing!

I like this! Love the mount you put inside where the knee controller used to reside, it’s all so clean and tidy. You did a great job explaining and I look forward to the rest of the footage on this one!

Thanks Bob! So after it is all done I like the look of that connector panel. I still want to paint the blue plastic but I'm loving the common sense and un-bulkiness of it all. Thanks!!!

Your videos are so informative. I have a 99 in a bentwood case that I am trying to refurbish. The wiring needs to be replaced. I am anxious to see you wire the light to the motor and foot pedal.

I did the same thing when I got my 66 without a plug like that. I hardwired it in and put heat shrink over the prongs that are now hot . It works fine

I find it relaxing watching you , so your videos will never be too long. I need to do something similar for my machine as electrically its not safe, I have zapped myself already, I don"t want to do it again. I don"t really like the look of the blue connectors, they look like something you would use for plumbing in a washing machine, { you did ask} 😁

I agree, the blue is les than ideal. Marie says there's a primer that I can get so paint will stick to them...

Hey Bob. Your 201K parts made my 1200-1 into a 1200-3 possible. I had no idea how rare those parts were. Maybe in the future your favorite machine on the bench for a revisit. 1200-3 I removed light and filled in. Looks just like 201K.

Amazon has a compatible right angle connector available. Then the cable won't be sticking up in the air.

Bob, Do you know where I can purchase the upper main horizontal shaft bevel gear for a Singer 201-2? The adjusters manual parts schematic (H10)says it’s only available when repairs are done at the factory 😮

I looked through my parts bin... Your best bet is to look on eBay. My fav seller of vintage Singer parts is The Rusty Dragon. His parts arrive clean and ready to use...
