I use the Singer Circular Stitcher to make perfect circular appliqué pieces which will be used on a table decoration. I am using this on my Riccar 570.

Thank you for this, I picked one up at an estate sale recently and thought it must be missing a part because it was so simple. Now I shall have to play with it to see how it goes.

Thanks so much, James. This was quite eye opening for me and now I shall be hunting for one for my vintage New Home model 641. Your work ethic is akin to mine. I try not to be too obsessed with perfection, but it can be challenging! 😊 I hope you have a video on the embroidery work you've done. It is exquisite!

I have a Singer 431G and couldn't figure out why this wouldn't work on mine. Thanks for talking about changing the screw. I had to break a piece out that kept me from getting the original screw out and looked as close as possible at yours to see where the screw ended up.

Just found one of these. Surprised that it does not fit the 431G as it does fit the 500 and 503. Can't seem to locate the manual though.

thank you for this video. I had one of these circular stitchers but never knew how it worked, it is amazing, and yes, I had to change the screw but I had one that fit. I have to try this on more things now to make neat embellishments for my fabric work...Violet

I want to see how you did the actual embroidery. It's gorgeous.

I downloaded snowflake embroidery patterns and stitched them out on the automatic machine (not free motion this time).

Thanks for sharing. Would this work with a low shank sewing machine?
@jamesrogers991 Жыл бұрын
Yes it will. I watched the video again to check which machine it was on. The Riccar is a low shank machine which shows you how it would work on low shank.

I realize this is old but I have one of these devices. I can’t get the screw out to change it. I see somebody has mentioned they had to break the piece off but seems there should be a way to get that out without breaking anyone know? Thank you so much

I seem to recall that moving the screw side to side created a larger hole so that the screw could be pulled out.

A light shade of lavender thread or the circular stitching may have been a nice contrast to the parent material color. What was "the end product" that this beautiful work became part of??
@jamesrogers9916 жыл бұрын
The lavender thread is an excellent suggestion thank you. This eventually became part of a winter themed table cloth.

I just bought one, and am eager to try it out. How DID you manage to remove the screw?
@jamesrogers9913 жыл бұрын
I might have had to wrestle a bit to enlarge the hole -- it is quite soft, so with a bit of rough treatment, it will come out.

There is a "finger" of metal in the slot that the screw is in. That "captures" the screw. If you bend it up a little (start it by levering it up with a screwdriver) then you can slide the screw far enough down into the wider end of the slot and tilt it a bit so that you can pull it out. But just bend the finger up far enough to get the screw out and do it gently if you don't want it snap right off. (If it does the attachment will still work - that finger's only function is to trap the screw. You would want to use a file or a little sandpaper to smooth off any rough edges if it breaks off.) You can then use the bed-attachment screw that comes with your machine (or one that come with other attachments for your machine that screw to the bed). I bent my "finger" up pretty much vertically and have left it there as the bed attachment screw shields it in use so the fabric doesn't catch on it. That way, if someone is careful, any future owner who wants it "as designed" can put the original screw back in and bend the finger down again. If you want to donate a bed attachment screw to the stitcher and "capture" it like the other screw was then you can carefully bend the finger back to its original position as well.

James, do you think this could be used on a Singer 319 machine by any chance? There is an oil hole about where the screw goes to hold the attachment. There is very little info about this attachment online. Thanks.

I would think so with the changed screw.

Hi i have this machine : I dont know what it does? can you explain it to me?
@leticiahansen70877 жыл бұрын
I mean does it sew? because i dont have the manual
@jamesrogers9917 жыл бұрын
The circular stitcher is used in conjunction with the sewing machine to enable you to sew perfect circles of the size you adjust. You can then use the fancy stitches on any machine (or straight or zig zag) to make the outside of the circle.
