DISCLAIMER:
I made a mistake in this video. The thread needs to run freely along the thread guide in the nose. I did not catch that my thread had gotten stuck between the nose plate and the thread guide until the end of the video where I corrected it. The thread should run down from the eye of the thread-uptake arm, along the plastic of the nose, and down into the spiral retainer clip without any obstruction between those two points. My apologies for the error. The rest of the video is correct.

My top thread tension is incredibly tight even on the lowest setting. What could be the problem? I've rethreaded it many times and keep having this issue

Ah, sorry to hear that! Thanks for asking. It could be a number of factors, so let's see what we can find out. Is the thread tight from the top/right side of the work, or is it tight from the bottom/wrong side of the work? If tight on the top, that indicates the bobbin tension needs adjustment. If tight on the reverse side, that indicates the top thread tension needs adjustment. If you are able to confirm that it is indeed the top thread, the next thing we'll need to look at is the actual thread tension dial, which I can discuss in further detail based on your findings. I also had an issue with my tension dial before I made a minor correction by tightening a loose screw in the nose of my machine, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

😊 the thread should not go behind the left side of what you called a guide but stay in front right before going into spiral....or the tension will be way off and the thread will break upon sewing. 😊Peace ✌️ ☮️

Thank you for catching that! I didn't notice the mistake until I was nearly finished recording :( I did manually correct the thread towards the end of the video for my final review but I did not explain the mistake in post-processing or in the video. I was hoping the final review with the corrected thread would serve as the correct way it's supposed to look in the end. Totally my mistake and something I completely overlooked. But yes, the thread is meant to run on top of the thread guide in the nose -- not behind it like a slotted tensioner!

@@mementosbyheather I have no experience in sewing machines but I spotted that, just for my tech / mechanic background. It sounded weird to me that the thread will be rubbing against plastic instead of metal :) I had a confirmation by reading those comments. Great video BTW :D
