I absolutely LOVE that someone as young as you knows Simon and Garfunkle, this song came out my freshman year of high school. Their version was a warning, this one is reacting to the fact that nobody paid attention to that warning. Paul Simon heard Disturbed's version and contacted them to tell them how much he liked what that done with his song.

You are the first reactor who caught on right off to the meaning of the silent intro! The men in David's family were traditionally Cantors in Synagogue and David was training to be one but, obviously, chose another path. I've read that his grandfather disowned him when he made that choice. He also works with a vocal coach.

Enjoyed your reaction! I'm 73 & was a young teenager when Simon & Garfunkel did this song. I & all of my friends thought it was a beautiful song & enjoyed singing it. None of us recognized the message at that time. This excellent cover showed me the message again, & I got it this time. I heard this song in the TV series, "The Blacklist," & backed it up to hear it again, after which I looked up who was singing the song. Have checked out other songs by Disturbed & now they have a pretty old gal as a fan. Check out David Draiman performing this song on the Conan show. It's flawless & a must for you to see/hear. Thanks & keep after it.

David Draiman....,incredible voice!! A powerful and soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime. ........just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! An awesome talent. Loved your reaction B. James.

When this was first released, I realized that, while the original is beautiful with its harmonies, the very lack of them here really makes one pay attention to the lyrics. Spectacular cover, amazing reaction.

I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this and you’re one of the very few who understood what the first fifteen seconds of silence meant. Almost everyone just looks confused and asks if there’s something wrong with the audio. Great job on the whole reaction, too.

Paul Simon said that this is the way that he wanted to perform the song. It's on his playlist. David Draiman was training to become a Jewish Cantor but he didn't finish. He's a classically trained vocalist. I love your reaction, I subscribed to your channel.

I discovered "The Sound Of Silence" version by Disturbed a couple of years ago by accident. Even tho I'm an older (late 50's) person, I absolutely LOVE this band after hearing this and checking out other songs by them. "Hold On To Memories" is my favorite song by Disturbed; I also love "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You", "A Reason To Fight", "Are You Ready" and "The Light". "Down With The Sickness" is great but doesn't mean as much to me personally as the others' I've mentioned. Pentatonix (an acapella group) also has a version of "The Sound Of Silence" that is fantastic. Another remake that you should check out is "Zombie" by Bad Wolves; originally done by The Cranberries...

Absolutely!! I'm 66...a heavy metal, goth friend saw them in concert and turned me on to this song. Now I'm addicted... just downloaded all of the above including Bad Wolves"Zombie". I had no idea I'd EVer be listening to metal! I'm in love with his voice!!

They are a heavy metal band. Been around for 25 years. Listen to Down With the Sickness- their signature song. Its wild and very heavy metal. Also listen to "Hold Onto Memories", another different musical style for Disturbed, but a beautiful song that will bring you to tears. Lead singer is the great David Draiman.

If you are looking for some more Disturbed based off this song. I would go with their cover of Sting's "If I ever lose my faith" which is just as power re-imagining of the classic Sting song. They also have a few great songs in "Hold onto Memories" and the light. Those are much less "typical" for Disturbed, but absolutely fantastic songs. Once there, you can delved into classic Distrubed like "Down the Sikcness", "Inside the Fire", "Stupify", "The Game" and others that really made the band famous. That thing I love best about the band is they don't make mindless music. They pour their heart and soul into the songs and often base their music on the worst moments of their lives.

I am not a Led Zeppelin fan, I do not appreciate their music. But when they made "Stairway To Heaven" I had to finally admit that they were a band with talent I could appreciate. They had to make that song, outside their normal fare, to reach the masses, and it is probably the song they are the most remembered for. The same goes for Disturbed. I am not a heavy metal fan, and I loved the original Simon and Garfunkle version of this song, but Disturbed stepped outside their normal fare to make this, and they will probably be most remembered for it. I love it.

Have heard many say the original was a warning and David's version is the anger for not heeding the warning. Simon said the song is as much David's now as it is his. High praise.from the original songwriter. Try listening to the live.version on Conan. He was so sick with the flu he had to sit down and only 1 opera.singer I have heard review it could even tell. I like the live.version better because of the orchestra and candles. He is classically trained and it shows. The consummate.professional. So much more relevant today with our.lack of human interaction. With our texts and emojis
