"I saw a boy who had red hair" camera: falls off the tripod in a fit of laughter
@ebuchill1 Жыл бұрын
I haven't understand the joke in that line for years. Can you explain PLEASE.
@mordirit8727 Жыл бұрын
@@ebuchill1 to dissect the joke: Some people say red haired women are the most beautiful, but red haired men are the least attractive looking ones. I've never really understood that but well, it's a bit of a cliché joke to say that red haired boys are ugly. Bo keeps listing normal set ups that become sad with the next line, "diabetic kid - trick or treating," "homeless man - named Rich," "lost dog - didn't even have legs, how the hell did they lose it" etc. After so many of these you keep expecting to hear something normal that becomes a dark joke with the second part. When Bo says "a boy who had red hair" you instantly think "oh wow, how's he gonna make this one into a dark joke," but then he doesn't add anything else and you realize that the racist "red haired men are ugly" stereotype _was_ already the joke

the icecream cone on the mother's corpse always gets me - aside from the shock factor - why would you be eating icecream over your mother's corpse?!

I think you're right with this interpretation. There are lines of the song where there's no actual joke but you still hear laughter. It's because we have been primed to laugh at anything and everything especially within the context of watching a comedian. For some shock value is funny by itself without there being an actual joke behind it but this risks just being offensive for the sake of it and losing any empathy. Bo is self aware enough to see this but probably still struggled to straddle that line to his own satisfaction, especially in his earlier work.

@@richarddweckcomedy definitely don’t agree with that. This was the first song in this special and I see it as like an introduction to the special and also just his style and thought process. So I think it’s super important because it’s like a reason for why he does what he does. Like he said, "Laughter. That's the key to everything." and "Goodbye sadness. Hello jokes."

@@DevyanshBahri yea it’s a great intro but it’s mostly jokes. There’s not a massive deep meaning behind it. He does have more pure joke songs to be warned about ; Oh Bo Words Words Words Ironic Also non songs like: If Shakespeare wrote a porn Poems Andy the frog Racial humor

if i might chip in my 2 cents about views, bo draws me in always, and so does the algorithm. if you do reactions to each special, with one video/reaction per song a day, you will likely keep the algorithm going toward you. i know because i just followed a channel that's doing that exactly, because the algorithm lead me, and now he is always in my recommended bo videos. he uploads the next song each day so he stays watched by me and a lot of others. your bo videos are usually there in the recommended too, but they're usually ones i've seen. that could be a missed opportunity

During performances like these Bo suffered from on stage panic attacks, not all the time but occasionally. He had a lot of anxiety while performing, and he ended up taking a five year break, to take time to work on his mental health, which led to the conception of “Inside”. But his anxiety could be a reason for the fidgety behavior you noticed, among other reasons.
