Cut enough thread from sewing machine, about 3 inches to have enough to make a knot in the back. Turn to the back of fabric & use the seam reaper to pull the 3 inch thread to the back. Take a threader to help you guide. Pass a threader in the last stitch on back of fabric, run the thread through the threader, pull out about one inch and guide the thread through the loop and pull it tight to finish the knot.

The bobbin is where the blue thread is. The larger red "button" is for manual movement of the needle.

After cutting, pull the thread end back through the top / front side of the sewn material, then slightly lift the last stitch put the thread through that loop and tie off there so it doesn’t come unraveled (the threader is very handy for doing this). I don’t know about the first stitch, whether it will come out or not, but I would think it should somehow be tied off too. Anybody know?

Yes your right, cut enough thread from sewing machine, about 3 inches to have enough to make a knot in the back. Turn to the back of fabric & use the seam reaper to pull the front thread to the back and insert a threader in the last stitch to secure it. Then take the thread you pulled from the front to the back and guide it through the threader pull out about one inch and guide the thread through the loop and pull it tight with the threader to finish the knot.

Great Video!! EASY to follow and informative! I wish I had found this video before buying this gadget!! I love to make easy projects like drawstring bags and card laying mats and had thought this would speed up my process. Truly, I am better off handstiching. At least I know my end product will last and not unravel! I plan on looking further at the other little machine shown at the beginning. Video: A+++ Personal opinion oF Singer Handheld: FAIL SERIOUS FAIL! Boooooooooooooo!!!

I'm about to use this machine for my AP Arts class, but the part that moves up and down won't even continuously move! When I try to switch the 'Lock and Sew' button, it just makes on solid movement either upward or downward, I cannot stitch anything! This would be a great necessity during our group project, but I can't seem to get it to work :(

I apologise in advance if I'm wrong 🙂 however, when threading the machine is there not another little wire loop under the red handle near the needle stem ? If there is, after threading the tension plate, you would thread through this loop then thread down onto the needle....the reason l'm asking is I've watched quite a few tutorials and no-one threads this loop. It could affect the tension causing missed stiches and rucking. ..???

Can tie it down to something with a heavy base e.g a thick heavy book, the rope can be tied just behind the 'on' switch, use some duc tape to make it sturdier - so that the machine stands up freely. Or while crouching over and sitting on the floor, the method I use is to hold it down with my foot, and use both my hands to guide guide fabric- this method may not be the best when doing a long project. But, both methods allow both hands to be free while sewing so it's easier to guide

You dont have to do all that with the lil loop...all you have to do is run the machine back and forth over the same sewn line. She doesnt even know how to handle it. Its not that hard to move the way you want it. Its like she is afraid of using it.
