We all know that a company has to be profitable but Singer Vehicle Design are able to do it by building their dreams. Not by selling some ‘show but no go’ overpriced bullsh*ts. With a huge dose of respect to the original. Respect to Singer, respect to Mr. Rob Dickinson. And, ‘Carfection’ and XCAR, thank you for that great clip. Cheers.

Wow, the Singer 911... so amazing! Not all Porsche 911 lovers have owned the beautiful Porsche 911, but we all have a story! #Love911 today your story rekindled the memory of the blessings of my story. Like you and so many, mine began as a child too. In about 1965-66 I was 11-12yrs old and at the time my dad owned a 58 Rambler and a 63 VW Bug. A wonderful and influential older cousin, Larry, worked for a bank and repossessed cars. One cold day his job was to recover a 63/64 Porsche 911. After recovery, Larry came to show it to my dad and me. I happened to be sick at the time but dad still bundled me up for the amazing ride... life changed! Yes, Life Changed in the world of a young boy which continues today. Everything I was familiar with about a car changed... from sightline, sound, feel, smell and almost taste. Did you ever smell something so different that you could almost taste it?... Fresh baked bread or cookies... well the amazing smell of leather for the first time in my life was beyond that special. HOWEVER the utterly amazing SOUND and POWER of a Porsche Boxer engine was thrilling beyond compare to every car experience I had ever had... then and now!!! But oh my that beautiful sightline out the front windshield of a hood which dropped low and the two bulging headlight fenders provided an extraordinarily different view of the road! I WAS IN LOVE ... and if you don't or can't relate then don't try ... "it's like trying to tell a stranger about rock and roll" as was once said... it is infact impossible to understand without the actual experience! Later that week my cousin Larry, or perhaps my dad, went to a Porsche dealer to get two brochures, the 911 and the 912. I studied every single word of the brochures multiple times from my bed and being relatively poor I determined that one day I would have to get a Porsche... a 912... cuz it was the same but with a smaller engine. I just had to have one some day! The dream continued... Fast forward to my Thermodynamics professor in college 1975ish... we asked him how a teacher at a State University could afford a 911??? He invited us back that evening after class to explain! He discussed cost curves and efficiencies of ownership. Fast forward again to 1990/91... using what I learned that evening I began my search and what a blessing... I found a 1985 Porsche Carrera Targa a woman was selling. It needed some love due to lack of proper care. Care which only someone in love could provide; yes being a gearhead also helped. Little did I know my initial love would turn into the more full experience of ownership which Ferdinand Porsche had always intended for Porsche 911 owners. That was the true driver experience and diversity of a car which could do everything well. Ferdinand Porsche design the vehicle to be one which could be used daily to commute but also thoroughly enjoy on the weekends out in a driving school/racetrack experience. Those experiences extended for 10 years of the love of Porsche Club performance driving. Well, that's my love experience with the blessing of knowing the Porsche 911! I hope everyone could have such a love and experience.

My passion with Porsche is rooted from within my childhood as well. All those years living in Europe and watching the 911's and 951's pass us on the autobahn as we drove in the slow lane in our family's Volkswagen bus will be in my memories forever. I wish there were more dedicated companies like this that focused more on the Porsche 951 turbo. Its just a blatant fact that the 911 is the true icon and the 951 is a a car with its own genuine quality and taste. Someday I hope to own a 911. But for now my 951 gets all of my attention. I just love what Singer does and I love how they represent Porsche and all of its charm, glory,charisma and essence.

I like Mr Dickinson. His vision for the cars he is producing fits my view of car modifying. Beauty comes from function, and you don't have to parade with how fast your car is with all the unpainted carbonfiber and huge aero parts. Subtle, fast, fun to drive.

God I love the ethos of Singer - if I were to create a car somehow that would be what I would be aiming at. Thanks for bringing us this video!
@TheBrokenEclipse10 жыл бұрын
***** That I love the idea behind Singer: their focus is not on making the most outrageous car, but to create a car with a personal touch, a car that is great to drive and with a focus on craftsmanship, quality and details. I like how they limit themselves in order to stay true to what 911s and Porsche is really about: a car that is fun to drive.
@TheBrokenEclipse10 жыл бұрын
***** Well technically they do create cars: modifying existing cars (and especially to the extend they do it) is creating new cars: they change almost everything in the car, its dynamics, its mechanics and the exterior and interior. Looking at a "stock" 911 and then at a Singer 911 is two completely different cars - therefore I believe that they actually do create cars.
@TheBrokenEclipse10 жыл бұрын
***** Yes they do, if we look at the definition of "create" we see that it is: "bring (something) into existence" No matter how you flip and turn it Singer creates cars - sure they aren't creating them from scratch, but if you actually saw and listened to the video you would know that they replace 90+% of the original car: the interior and exterior are new, engine is redone, brakes, wheels, electrical systems etc. Furthermore they change the behaviour of the cars so they drive as good as possible - and if you go an listen to reviews of Singer's cars you would know that they drive differently than the original car. They change what they feel they have to change to get the best out of the platform - they create a car that is the ultimate 911 from that period with today's materials and knowledge.
@TheBrokenEclipse10 жыл бұрын
***** How does the definition of the word not support what I say? Are you just going to ignore the definition of a word? Apparently to you, one can only create something if it is from scratch - but that isn't necessarily the case. Also the body doesn't stay the same, they have remodelled most of the body in order to fit the mechanical changes they have made. And once more: are you just going to ignore things that go against your beliefs? The reviews support what I said. Changing the dynamics and behaviour of a car does matter, that is one of the pillars of a car and takes a long time to get right, thus by changing a car's dynamics you create a car that behaves in a certain way - and in this case: it changes the cars original dynamics, creating a new kind of 911. And finally: yes they can definitely make it more extreme, but if you listen to Mr. Dickinson you will know that what they wanted to do was to create the ultimate car that stays true to the idea of the original 911: they wanted to create a great all arounder, using the best components - they didn't want to create a frankenstein car. They do create something, once again: you cannot ignore the definitions of the word since the meaning of the word is to make something - and that is exactly what they do: they create the ultimate all around 911, that while, it is indeed a modification, it is a modification that changes nearly everything about the car (and this you cannot argue against - at least not if you have seen the video: they don't simply change a bit about the exterior, no they change almost everything about the car, go watch this video, or any other video for that matter if you won't believe it) Oh and one more thing: "redone" is synonymous with "reconstruct". They reconstruct the engine, using the skills from Cosworth to bring it back to life and enhance it

I love cars. I am obsessed with them. Old and new. I was born in Southern California and, in high school, I loved pulling my Volkswagen Beetle into the driveway to wash it on warm breezy day. Fast forward 15 years. I moved to NYC to be an artist. I am carless and it's killing me. I feel stuck. Trapped on this island with no way out. Rental cars are not the answer. They are lifeless. My only respite is to spend countless hours researching and dreaming about cars through this inflexible glowing screen. From the Toyota Prius to the Rolls Royce Phantom, all cars are noble expressions of human engineering, ingenuity, and creativity. For me, however, there is one car that sits at the apex of all others. If I can own just one automobile in the world it would be a Porsche by Singer. The Singer 911 is a masterpiece. I do not say this flippantly. Yes, the Singer 911 is a masterpiece at the level of Michelangelo's Pieta. It is rolling sculpture. Every curve, every detail is excruciatingly crafted. It's so beautiful that, upon a glance, Medusa herself would turn to stone. My hairs stand up on the back of my neck. My arms and legs go numb. My whole body trembles. I weep. In the end, I don't know how I will ever be able to afford a Porsche by Singer. Now my dream becomes my nightmare...

I wonder if actual Porshe executives have visited Singer themselves. I know they are not associated, however I think someone like him and Magnus Walker (which i know Porshe visited, according to Magnus himself) deserve corporate recognition. To some that may be worth next to nothing, but to either a new or well known brand, being recognized by the original creators is something special. Because in the back of my mind executives are wealthy people wether they show off or not, that dont want to get in people's feet because their time is too valuable. Although i dont intend to generalize, that is the image i get. However i know several brands stay in touch with the community and that i think shows they dont just care for a profit but to be able to possibly help or work with or for a brand like Singer. What i mean is like Nike. they get involved in many automotive projects and allow the ones involved to use their insane workshops and such which makes fabrication much easier depending on what they already have but its just so cool to me.
@tatjanadelak16758 жыл бұрын
+Patrick Pelletier You are wrong, they just care for a profit.
@patrickpelletier63158 жыл бұрын
Tatjana Delak who? Singer? Listen if all he cared about was profit not nearly as much effort would be put into building these things. And sure the cars arent cheap but why should he lose money on his builds? If you mean executives then they wouldnt really have cared for Magnus Walker then would they? Sure they all run a buisness and profit is important but you have to differ making profit from making money. That's how i look at it. Making money is like companies such as Oakley. They spend 20, 30 or 50$ on making a pair of sunglasses but they sell for 300+$ that's making money (as in greed). Making profit is not being excessive with the money you make off of something. Anyways as i wondered. Since Porshe executives know Magnus they must know Rob from Singer
