I still don't get how Vocaloid is so creepy. I mean, it's a human's voice that YOU arrange into a song. The songs don't make themselves, the voices don't make themselves, the characters don't make themselves, none of that. I think its uncanny valley for people. Personally, I see vocaloids as an instrument, since it works like any other virtual instrument. That is why Roomie seemed to be good at the editor instantly, while I'm struggling because it is new concept for me all together.

Ethan - Actually, each Vocaloid is created by a human person speaking into a microphone. They will sound out every sound possible in their language, and then that will be taken by editors to become what's called a "voicebank". Hatsune Miku's voice belongs to a real singer named Saki Fujita. In fact, several famous singers have had their own Vocaloids made, including Yohio with YOHIOLOID. Edit: Apparently that is called sampling and I am just a Stupid Person™. So yeah, the voice is created by sampling.

I'm a vocaloid fan. I listen to mostly vocaloid music. So, here goes my comment Humans are still better at singing. Overall. I like Roomie's singing, compared to the vocaloid cover. Vocaloids still somehow sound flat compared to humans. But before people conclude that "vocaloids are not so good afterall", it's a musical instrument. In hands of a really good producer, it'll sound exactly like human with emotions. If you search hard enough, you'll find vocaloid songs that sound no different than a professional human singer. It all depends on whoever uses the vocaloid. Unfortunately, most famous vocaloid songs arent like that. It sounds flat. Not out of tune, but flat. I want people to understand that there's some songs that sound genuinely good, the music and vocaloid singing combined. Sorry for the long post, I apologise as this is Roomie's video. Hey Roomie, you're good at singing.

Hatsune Miku isn't the best English pronouncing vocaloid, even if you use her English voicebank. If you want a real English sounding Vocaloid, try Dex (male), Diana (female), Gumi English (female) or Oliver (male soprano). It also depends on how much you bother to tune it. A good example of a humanistic tuner is Mitchie M.

Anyway, every Vocaloid can sing realistic - it's just depends on producers skills in using Vocaloid software, and voicebank predispositions for simple language. Except Vocaloid, CeVIO voicebanks are able to sing realistic too - just listen some of Sato Sasara covers.

Vocaloid DOES have the potential to sound really realistic. You just have to practice a lot and use the right voicebank. Practice a lot as in *A LOT* . Though the examples used in this video were pretty good (for some noobie original song producer) but they weren't as good as they could be, as some producers have been making for years. But tHAT's JuSt mE pROBaBLY. (Plus there's an extra product called Vocalistener and I'm too lazy to explain so pls google) Also @Kommando39 actually not really. It's a product of several recordings of many MANY syllables put together. Not exactly "auto-tuned" but they can be/are edited usually.

You should check out Kyaami on KZbin, she tunes Vocaloids and Utauloids like a god, so much so that they can pass off as human voices imo. Also I was surprised to see English Vocaloid work so well, because the English vocaloid I remember from a few years back had really bad pronunciation. Vocaloid works better for languages like Japanese and Korean because words are written exactly like they're read. Anyhow this was a really interesting video!
