India won this final of Singer Cup 1994 beating Sri Lanka, defeated Sri Lanka yet again in Asia Cup 1995 final but the tables turned in World Cup 1996. It took India 3 years to beat then World Champions Sri Lanka in an ODI final again which came in Nidahas Trophy 1998.

I never watched the match but saw the scorecard in a Kannada newspaper the next day. I wrote the summary scorecard on a wall with charcoal piece. I was taken to the task by my Dad who belted me with a stick for spoiling the painting on the wall. Can remember the scorecard as clearly as 26 years ago. I was 6 then. Love for the game had just started.

Kapil Dev had lost all the pace by 1994, he should have retired earlier. India had a very good ODI record between 1992 to 1995 where they won most of the series or at least reached finals of the ODI tournaments. This tournament was badly impacted by rains or else this would have been a very good tournament. Aus and Pak also participated in this tournament.

Not really. India was in top form in next series against WI at Home in 1994 when they beat them 6-2 overall and won Asia cup in 1995. The decline slightly started in 1995 Nov against a weak NZ side when we struggled to beat them 3-2. World Cup 1996 was better based on just a Quarter final win against Pakistan. Then we really degraded for 2 years
