Taylor is a really great songwriter, all the songs she writes are from her experiences and contrary to what everyone else talks about is not just about love. Ed and Taylor do the same in my conception, but Taylor is always diminished in that sense.

I'm sorry but compared to past greats like Carly Simon and Carol King Taylor is a hack. Writing songs about getting dumped is fine at 20 but still doing it in your 30's is so boring and predictable. directioner here: Little Things is one of the only songs that they didn’t write on that I really like. so pretty much if it was before 2013, I don’t like it, because they probably didn’t write on it. Little Things does seem really personal, but I think it’s really funny because of how backhanded it is. like “oh you’re really fricking horrible and i can’t stand you but i think that’s cute.” Also, i feel like it’s harder to be personal while in a band, you know? I would definitely say that for the most part they got a lot more personal when they became solo artists.

If we're really being honest here, most songs aren't written by one person. Females especially, have it in their contracts in the past where they're not allowed to get full credit for songs they write solo, they have to assign others to it. Usually, the songwriter teams they more commonly use.

Ed Sheeran's music really feels so personal, like he is telling you the stories from his life, I felt like this even before I learned English properly and didn't really understand the lyrics. He is really an amazing musician and I'm glad we have an artist like this in our generation. Also I agree BTS has other stornger and more interesting songs than Dynamite, Dynamite is for sure catchy and fun but I often gravitate more towards the songs with deeper meaning.

Ed had written 4 songs for One Direction and they have all been phenomenal. I do agree that "Little Things" is a very personal song, but I think the boys have made it their own. All of the songs Ed wrote for them are some of the best tracks on the albums, not just because Ed wrote them, but you can hear that the boys related to it as well. I believe that the emotions an artist puts into a song is what makes it special whether they wrote it or not.

Ugh, that first comparison though… I feel like it's only about which singer you like better. And it's not even showing the best part of Exile (might be just the editing). I used to hate Taylor Swift (so not an angry fan here) and only stumbled upon this song because of Bon Iver but I got chills hearing it for the first time. I like the lyrics, their voices complement each other well and it really brings up emotions for me. Rihanna's song… well, it's a good song but not really outstanding, generic pop lyrics and I feel like the song is only good because it's Rihanna singing it.

For me,little things was less about body type and more about lack of self love that is seen amongst teenage girls as well as boys. I love the fact that even if it is sung by a group of male singers,the words may be applicable to both genders. BTS is known for writing a lot of their own music, so I was surprised when they showed up in the other category. Dynamite is a great song, but it’s definitely lackluster, especially in the lyrics area, compared to most of the music they have a hand in creating. Bruno Mars deserved to win in that case, but if you were to compare it to one of their other songs, I probably would have to reconsider.

I have Folklore on vinyl and I like Exile, definitely more than the Rihanna song. But I think it is one of the less interesting tracks melodically of the album. Still a good song and a cool vibe though.

Oof, the one song BTS didn't write lol. I get why you'd choose uptown funk, its catchy as hell. Still love dynamite but i agree BTS has other songs that are way better imo, not that i don't like dynamite tho. it would be intresting watching you compare BTS when they debuted to BTS now, i feel like it's a really interesting concept as BTS has changed a lot music wise, specifically, since then. I feel like not that many knows of BTS's origins or how much variety BTS has with their music.
