Replaced Spark Plugs of Toyota Corolla Car 2004

I just changed the plugs, PCV valve & serpentine belt on my '04 Corolla. Thanks for posting this vid. It's my wife's work car & she isn't nice to it...The car has 170,000 miles & has never broke down. I just finally decided I'd better treat it to some TLC. So far in ten years I've bought 2 sets of tires, one brake job, one battery, plugs, belt, PCV valve & synthetic oil changes every few months. You just can't beat these cars.

Excellent video, Singh! The dealership wanted $240 to change the spark plugs. Following your video cost me just $12 for the plugs and less than an hour of my time. Two comments - 1) there's no need for the vinyl tubing trick if your spark plug wrench attachment is magnetic, and 2) it's a good idea to blast the area around the spark plug boots with compressed air before you remove them to make sure no debris falls into the holes.

+jpsinger16 aside from holding the spark plug, the tubing also slips if the threads are misaligned when you're screwing it in, preventing thread damage.

Of the several videos I looked up on changing spark plugs in a corolla, this was the best one and he didn't say a word. I didn't mind the shaky camera. You at least showed what needed to be done and gave the right info. Thanks for posting.

Best video for this type of thing; I need to replace an ignition coil and this gives me the confidence to do it myself for a $20 part instead of $140 + labor!!!

Using this video, I changed the plugs on my 2003 Corolla today using this as a guide. Took about 1 hour. Everything seems OK. Hasnt run this smooth for a while. Had to buy all the tools, etc. as I didnt have any of the necessary stuff. Didnt use the vinyl tubing and had no trouble putting in the plugs. Used to be so much simpler to change plugs. Really needed a video like this to do it on my own. Thanx!

NGK plugs are good. But I would have used Denso iriddum plugs, which are OEM for Corolla.

Check the Owner's Manual for selecting the right spark plug or visit a local auto spare parts shop for your 2003 Corolla. They have a cross-check list of parts for different models.

playing completely stupid here intentionally, (great video by the way!) putting the dielectric grease on the ceramic part accomplishes....? I'm thinking most would apply it to the terminal thingy thinking it would conduct electricity better...(I kind of thot so, too, until I saw this video). Interested in the response as my brother and I are going to be changing plugs in his wife's '05 corolla they just picked up. I will probably use y our video as the demonstration for the job...

I thought so as well, until I looked it up. Putting it on the ceramic helps the plug go back on easier and keeps moisture out. It will reduce electrical conductivity, so it shouldn't go on the metal contacts, I've done it wrong before. Also most modern spark plugs will tell you not to use anti-sieze.

Isn't the spark plug change interval for this car 120k? The iridium plugs are designed to last well over 100k in most vehicles.

Thanks for your appreciation and comments. Tripod is in action at 3:21 when I am cleaning spark plug cap with both hands ! But on several places I had to capture close up shots over the engine with constantly moving target. I was holding camera in left hand and aiming it wherever my other hand was and doing the work at the same time. I really needed another pair of hands LOL !!
