This video is about How to fix the clock on your 2003-2008 Toyota Corolla. What happens is that the solder goes bad on both sides of all five resistors on clock's computer board. This video describes how to easily take apart different dash panels, open up the clock housing, and reheat and/or resolder the solder points on the resistors to allow to clock to function again.
FYI: If the reheating of the solder joints do not work, you MUST apply new solder to the ends of all 5 resistors as shown in this video.
Please be careful when using a soldering iron to do this fix.
Hope you guys enjoy and let me know in the comments section below if this video helped you out.
Parts Needed:
1. Plastic Pry tool or Flat head screwdriver with taped end
2. Philips head Screwdriver
6. Weller Soldering Iron Model #: SP25NK

This video is timeless! I used this trick back in 2016 to fix it in my first 9th Gen Corolla. Got a new-to-me 9th Gen Corolla a few years after that and had the same issue. Looked this video up again, and same fix did the trick.

My corolla clock is working but very dim. You Can barely make out the time. I was looking to replace it and found this video instead of a replacement video. With nothing to loose, I did exactly as shown in the video. Hit the solder joints with an iron. Put it back, turned it on and BAM! the clock is bright as it should be. So this trick works even if you have a clock that is too dim to see. 👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🙏🙏

I have an ‘05 Corolla LE and the clock first went out around 2010. Very occasionally it would pop back on for a short while but worsened over time to almost never coming on. I thought it was the connection at the back and taping and using zip ties didn’t work. I saw your video, bought a narrow tip soldering iron and tried this. It has now worked for 2 months thanks to you.

Worked perfectly, thank you. I chose to remove the circuit board from the plastic housing for access to the solder points without inadvertently melting the plastic. Remove only the two silver screws at the outer ends. (The other black screws hold the led display to the board and loosening them might be a bad idea.)

Did this on my 05. The hardest part of the repair was getting the 2 screws out. I did not have a TORX, so used a small flat blade screw driver and pliers o n the handle. I used a 15 power Zeiss eye loop to see that at least one resistor had indeed a cracked looking solder joint. I heated each resistor with the soldering iron for good measure and each of those 30 pins or however many there are. Works like a GEM! No need to spend $144.00 for a rebuild unit on line or more for a new one. Thanks you!

Hey Juni S. You've saved me $200AUD from getting a replacement one for my 2003 Toyota Camry Sportivo ACV36R. I done this tutorial of yours to get my dash speedo/ digital clock lighting up and it did the trick. Whilst I did reflow solder to the resistors on mine, but also reflow the solder to the voltage regulator and applied IPA on the connector pins. Works like new. :)

Confirmed. This worked for me in 2018. However, I did break one of the plastic clasps that hold the clock main-body to the back plate (you'll see when you do it) so, I guess plastic gets brittle with age, who knew. One thing, be careful with the iron'ing, it just took a little. Just barely get the soder liquid, then back away. That worked for me. Great video, easy fix, Thanks!

Thanks my man! Just did this while at work and it worked np! Nice and simple. I did break a piece of plastic when taking off the housing that the clock fits into. It was a piece that goes to the one of the trays that opens up. It was a piece in front of the bottom right tray hinge. The bottom right was harder to pop out and I think at 1st I was pulling on the tray which is why it broke where it did. Very minor and when put back togther you can't even tell. I now have a working clock! Finally! I've only owned my 05 corolla for around 4 months now and the clock has only came on once that I've noticed and it didn't last long. Maybe 5-6 min. It's really been bothering me having a clock that doesn't work. Anyhow! This video made doing this very easy! Gotta love a nice, simple, straight forward tutorial. Thanks again! 👊 Ps. Also helped me with my gear shifter light bulb. You're deff the man! 😎 *EDIT* I got my clock working by heating up the solder points like in this video but unfortunately my clock only worked for 2 days. I took it back apart today (12/4/21) and added solder to all the spots I originally just heated up. Its working now and seems brighter also but that could just be me. I added a good amount of solder so we'll see how this holds up. Hoping it lasts!

Thanks so much for this! I didn't have a soldering iron nor do I know how to solder. I used a heat gun instead and set it to its highest temp. I used it to heat up the entire circuit board for a few seconds (maybe 20 seconds or so) and it worked! I was swaying the heat gun back and forth as to not focus the heat in one area. So be careful with this cuz you might melt the plastic casing. Lol!
