There was one chawl type housing with red roof (these are housing literally labelled by room number, with no attached toilet and a common balcony per floor). You won’t believe it was in the Zone 1 area of Bombay (literally downtown area) and it was full of Muslims loitering out in the passage, fully covered from head to toe in black and white costumes. No judgements, but houses with this many people can't be very dirty and loud. Just depends on how are the people you will be living with. If you are getting apartment as a sublease, ensure that there are no broken appliances or slabs. Ask for photos if you are making a deal remotely. Better would be to take a fresh lease.
