I sing weekly (not holidays) with a group and experience all the things talked about here. I also had the wonderful experience of singing in the Victoria Victoria Sesquicentenary Choir (1000 voices I think) at the Exhibition Building and it was a wonderful experience I have never forgotten. I haven't even forgotten the high I experienced - I remember it whenever I look at the photo I bought of the event - a little returns in my memory! Strangely I don't get the high when I listen to the recording. It's as if my memory for the emotion works better than listening. My father ( a singer) used to tell me 'You don't smile because you are happy; you are happy because you smile'. There are some related effects I've noticed in a career of teaching - gaining 'control/attention' of a room or lecture theatre by gently rocking and modulating you voice and encouraging the audience to rock in sync. In a large lecture theatre you can see blocks of students in sync with you in a sea of those not paying attention etc!!! Fascinating to an educationalist! Haven't read much about it.
