Hi sweeties,
It took me a long time to get everything together for this video because I have so many recordings and footage, but I think it turned out great. However there are still a few points that I want to emphasize on:
1. I have over a 1000 recordings and hundreds of video's of me just singing, it really did help me to hear myself and improve.
2. Listening to you favorite artists and listen closely to when they breath and which vowel they change to to switch from register also helps.
Anyway I hope you like it. Till next week!
Extra information:
Vocal exercises and important people:
Vocal exercises: / jacobsvocallessons
Tristan Paredes : / @tristanparedes
Songs used:
Beyonce- halo
Alexandra Bruke- Hallelujah
Billie Eilish- when the party is over /ocean eyes

It takes a lot of courage to post this, I''ve only been singing for a year. I heard a lot of improvement in your voice! Keep singing! Never give up! Keep practicing scales wherever it is comfortable in your range. You can find out for vocal fach (range) a with a piano, or an app, but don't focus too much on your fach, it's just a general guideline of where your voice naturally sits. It's also possible to expand your range, and it will expand on both ends with more training. Here is a general range of the fachs. Alto- D3-Bflat 5 Mezzo- A3-A5 Soprano- C4-C6

Im at 3+ years now, my biggest advice is try new things, sing whenever you can, and (u already did this) but record yourself. This is my secret singing channel and have about 150 videos uploaded. Ive used each video as a learning tool. It really helps. And definitely do those vocal fundamentals. Im super excited for the update!

I don't understand why You think KZbin isn't helpful? You may not listen to a good tutor but KZbin definitely helped me alot, I started my journey 3 months ago and I see improvement from day one! I highly recommend Jacobs academy especially those videos ( vocal exercises for beginners, singing exercise for beginners). record yourself and listen to it often is so helpful too good luck for us in our journey yay

Personally in retro spect, I think I would've improved faster with a vocal coach than without. KZbin did help me a lot and I am grateful for that. But KZbin can be confusing especially for someone like me who likes to learn everything at once, my vocal coach gave me some guidance and it helps to have a weekly goal rather than bouncing around like I used to . Do you have anyone besides Jacobs academy that you think everyone here should follow?

@@guruaishasings ah! I see I was singing with a very speaky voice it was my biggest problem, I searched about it here on youtube and I found a video from Kimberley smith, and tried to follow it it was really a life changer my speaky singing voice improved a lot, so I usually do like that , record myself singing after doing those exercises I mentioned before listen to myself and search about what sounds wrong or bad and I'm actually slowly learning about my voice, tone and pitch, chest, head, and mixed voice, etc

Get a singing straw and sing as you normally would in the straw. Then take the straw away and try to replicate what it was doing IE creating back pressure. This will solve all your problems. Its just your coordination. This is called Bel canto. You are using to much air and the sound should resonate as you sing and its more effortless.

Hey, I've been practicing singing for the past year like you and prior to that I really couldn't sing too much like you, though I'm a guy so it's a bit different. I'm not sure if you realise this but you have a habit of singing really light and airy even on parts that should have a bit more oomph or power behind them (this may be like me because you're shy and it's embarrassing to sing louder when you know how bad you sound). I had a similar issue when I started singing. You should look up 1.5 octave Nae nae exercises. They sound lout and terrible when you practice but that's alright, the "Nae" sound forces your vocal chords to come together and close. Eventually after enough practice you will have closure on other vowel sounds without the need for the exercise. Also you shouldn't have to move your jaw when you do runs, a lot of pop singers do this but it's just a bad habit and unnecessary movement ultimately leads to less control. It's alright to move your mouth if you change the vowel sound during the run but moving the jaw up and down isn't needed. So I'd try go through your range while looking in the mirror and looking out for unnecessary movement, make sure though that you don't try and tense anything to restrict movement. Ultimately, relaxed singing is the best singing, so in all your practice just make sure you stay relaxed and that your singing isn't uncomfrotable. I recommend checking out Matt Ramsay's channel and looking for exercises on breathiness and whatever else you struggle with. Hope you found this helpful keep it up :)

Thats actually really helpful cheers. That bratty nae exercise really is more of a test of confidence and ability to forget about neighbours than singing ability lol😭 i still find it hard to make it sound bratty enough.

well you're getting some of the notes right but more importantly you are still sticking to singing despite your struggles, love that! To me, i see your struggles are very clear, its breathiness that's making you lose the clear tone, - strain that's partly causing pitch issues you can see your straining when you lift you neck up high as the notes get higher. - spreading your mouth to wide like the when people say "cheese" when taking a photo, try avoiding this and make sure your mouth shape is a bit more narrow by the way, the breathy tone is not a breathing issue believe it or not! i know that sounds weird but actually your breathy tone is coming from a lack of closure in your vocal folds. try singing a 'NG' sound as in "sing" make sure it sounds super bright, bratty and buzzy, if you do this right you'll find that your breathiness has gone or reduced. Also just a word of advice, i know you want to sing great and powerful songs, but i recommend forgetting about runs and singing high notes (for now). its why you get so frustrated with singing. That demi lovato song is extremely difficult, and to a beginner can feel impossible. beginner singers should sing easy songs advanced singers can sing harder song Just work on technique, and your pitch will improve a lot. What you need to work on to really see improvement, is breathiness, pitch, strain, widening the mouth. I know a vocal coach who can help you, he's helped me. his name is Kegan and this is the link to one of his videos about the basics of singing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqXChp6Ir9WSkJo Im not sponsored by him, im one of his students that learned all of this from him, book lessons and i promise you'll improve if you work at it. Hope this helps, keep posting :)

@@guruaishasings well its good to hear you got a teacher again. without teachers we'd be trying to get it right for years. in the future, if you don't remember everything in my comment this is the most important thing to take away: Find a teacher that can sing well and has students that sing well. tbh, you don't need to know that much about the science of vocals just find a teacher that knows it and can demonstrate. ok, i need to stop writing full novels on youtube. have a good one and good luck with your singing!

When you're just starting out i think you should stick to the less vocally demanding songs. You wouldn't be signing up for a marathon after having just learned how to walk. You can seriously hurt your vocal chords.

Hey, beautiful! You are definitely getting better. Congratulations! My advice for you is to practice hitting the right notes first, using your piano and to relax your voice even more. I honestly think that those songs are too high for you and you are simply damaging your vocal cords by straining them. For instance I am alto and I'm always searching for songs in the lower register to practice on. When you start singing by practicing on more simple songs (in the middle/lower register) you're gonna notice your progress even faster! Go ahead girl, you've got this! :)

omg my piano has really become my best friend since this video. It has definitely improved not just the muscle memory of my voice but also my ears! And I have totally stopped trying to hit those high notes, I noticed that love to sing way more in that 'softer high/low' (don't really know how to describe it) as I did the last few minutes of the video, my tone and my breathing just seems to be better. And I am starting vocal lessons next month CANT WAIT
