@@cliffordpalmer1109 The new version is not much different from the old. It was meant to simply fix an issue that can sometimes occur with the first version of the farm. If you have yet to load the shulkers in I suggest switching over to the new version to make things easier.

Just a few hours and I already have enough shells to last me and my server for at least a week. Love the videos. Easy to understand for someone like me, who is just getting into technical minecraft, but still, well, technical.

@@cubicmetre I was wondering why the schematic didn't match the world download. I'm wondering why the lava is no longer needed, and also two of the obsidian where the lava was don't have buttons. EDIT: Guess the trapdoors + turtle eggs handle the pigmen. But are the buttons not needed on the overworld side?

@@ToLazyToThink0 Yeah the buttons and lava were just a remnant of previous issues with the design which got resolved and so they are no longer needed. Also if there are buttons missing on the portal that is quite bad, I should go and fix that right away.

@@cubicmetre yeah, in one iteration of the farm I had myself stand there as the decoy instead of a snowman. Then pushed a button to replace dead shulkers. The farm isn’t afk-able then obviously and with the rates you get I’d probably be better off just end city busting. Kinda defeated the purpose. Back to the drawing board w/your inspiration

I just saw ilmango dropped a tutorial on the version being used on the SciCraft blitz series, and noticed he was doing the detection to replace a missing skulker using a target block, relying on the snowmen's shitty aim. Would such an idea be viable here? I assume the longer output might make it difficult to differentiate between a missing shulker, and a teleportation?

I think Raysworks farm is locational, mainly because it works fine in his world download but every time I take a schematic and paste it in an empty world it just doesn't work. Shulker keeps disappearing and the snow golem sometimes dies to the water elevator because they take damage from water.

Very nice design and video! I agree that for many people single dimension farms would be more ideal. Not a big deal but would be great if you could lower the volume of the music a bit more next time, can understand you clearly but sometimes the music can distract from following your train of thought.

Absolutely, I ran the farm for hundreds of hours and it never ran out of shulkers, you need to be careful though. As any mistakes building the farm could make it unstable and you could lose shulkers if that is the case.

Hey Cubic, amazing video as always, love the way you wrap around to the final design in these videos. You mention at @8:08 that the unoptimized farm would be making 30 shells per hour, and were disappointed at that fact. One thing I'd like to point out though, is that even for a moderately sized server, 15 free shulkerboxes every hour is pretty substantial, and would fulfill any reasonable demand of a server (technical minecrafters excluded, obviously, but even then you'd have to be using shulker stacking to even take advantage) so having the farm be so "low output" really doesn't matter for 99.9% of the playerbase, as even in my singleplayer technical world I feel like I'm using maybe a few hundred shulker boxes, max. I'll be building the 160 per hour model, obviously, but if that wasn't an option I wouldn't really be too put off tbh.

The general point of making faster farms is that you want the items on demand, there is also the server performance conjecture of what is better, a farm that runs at 50mspt but produces your items instantly so you only need to run it for a second, or a farm that produces very slowly at 1mspt so it takes hours to get your items. In my opinion it is better to have higher rates and lower performance because then you can just run the farm whenver you need the items instead of having it run in the background and constantly contribute lag. There is also the risk that if you leave a farm running in the background and the server crashes then it breaks and causes you pain having to fix it. So honestly, less running time to obtain your items is better.

For those who wants to know it also work in 1.18 ! But you will have to change the state of the activators rails by putting them in the diagonal way to make sure the minecarts don't stays blocked on it. There are 3 of them and all of them are in the collecting and killing system. the 2 first ones are on the 2 permanent minecarts that collect the shulker to give it to the other single minecart going in the killing chamber. But you don't need to do any modification on the one of the reproduction chamber. Hope it helped you ! And by the way if you need help to know where those activators rails are more precisely ask me here !

So I am still on 1.16 but using a mod that implements the 1.17 shulker duplication. But I can't put lava in cauldrons in 1.16. Any easy work around?

I'm afraid not, stacked minecarts are very temperamental and other methods such as cactus will destroy some of the minecarts causing the farm to eventually run out of minecarts.

What's important is that you follow the schematic precisely, a single button missing on a block somewhere and the farm can break if a shulker teleports to that free space.

11:50 wouldn't shortening the teleport area where the minecarts collect the shulkers help with that delay, and therefore reduce the amount of shulkers that need to be replaced ?

Yes but it increases the chance of the shulker dying as it is looking for blocks to tp to 5 times after it shoot itself and if it hasn't found a viable spot it just doesn't tp. And the problem here is that it just takes a *random* block in its tp area and looks if its viable, so the more solid (viable) blocks you replace with air blocks the more likely it is to die, also resulting in lower rates. You have to find the middle way

Great vid as always! I'll be building your 2 dimensional farm but this is a super cool concept. The poor snowball detection has baffled me before and this is such a good explanation and elegant solution. Out of curiosity, since this farm has a full backup bank and you don't have to worry too much about lost shulkers, have you looked at the rates if you decreased the number of spawning slices to make a more resources friendly farm?

Hmm, you make a good point, could maybe try restricting the teleportation spaces and see what happens to the rates. I'd expect bad things to happen as if you lose too many shulkers too quickly the farm could just delete all of your shulkers.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I used litematica, and verified the schematic, but every so often minecarts get stuck at the fence gate. When one stack of minecarts goes to the chamber with the lava cauldron, one or a couple have a chance of not breaking, so they go back, which usually isn't an issue, but if another stack is already on it's way to the lava cauldron, and a third stack drops behind the fence gate the three stacks bumping into each other, resulting in the second stack getting stuck in the fence gate, and the third one stuck behind it. If the second stack is broken, then things are fixed once another stack drops in, but I don't know the best way to keep it from happening. The only thing I can think of is to increase one of the delays, but that might mess something up, or just slow the rates.

I was having this issue aswell, however I made some changes to how the system captured and released the carts and it worked fine without any hiccups over multiple 10h tick warps. The issue occurs when the stacked minecarts separate and collide with eachother. So the solution was to make sure they always stayed together. It may be possible that it can still happen and if that is the case we may need to implement something which stops the minecarts from going backwards.

@@cubicmetre I redownloaded the schematic and replaced the old one with it in my schematics folder to check, and the schematic was the same one that I'd used initially as the only thing the verification detected was that the cactus had aged. I don't know why this has happened for me multiple times in the span of a couple of hours while it worked fine for you after multiple tick warps, but I have noticed that the minecarts going backwards only acts as a problem if there are two moving stacks of minecarts in the bottom section at the same time and a third stack drops down by the time the other two are close to the fence gate, so while it theoretically lowers the rates slightly and makes the shulker need to be replaced slightly more often, increasing the delay of the second repeater in the replication detection from 1 to 2 could work to keep that from happening by spreading out the stacks of minecarts a bit more. Stopping the minecarts from going backwards, or doing something with the minecarts that go backwards to stop them from jamming the system and put them back into the system, could work without slowing down the rates. That would be slightly more complicated, but depending on how much increasing the delay affects the rates, having full rates and no maintenance might be worth the effort, but I don't want to create too much more work for you if I'm the only person having the problem or if the effect of increasing the delay on the rates is insignificant. I've run the farm with increased delay for an hour, it didn't jam, and it produced 164 shells in that hour. I will start a tick warp and see how well it goes.

The farm jammed several times during the tick warp with the increased delay, so I made a system using rails to try to turn the minecarts back around after they start going backwards in order to try to prevent jamming. Hopefully this works. The tick warp for this attempt is already started.

The minecart re-reversal system seems to work. It turns around minecarts going backwards that go into it, and the farm didn't jam once in the single 10 hour tick warp I've done so far. It only requires 8 rails, 7 slabs, a block of redstone, and 2 buttons for each of them, totaling 48 rails, 42 slabs, 6 blocks of redstone, and 12 buttons. It is a 2 by 4 loop of rails that has a change in y level with one of the rails replacing the last powered rail that the minecarts go across before they go over the activator rail and a block of redstone replacing the slab before that and a button placed on both of the 2 sides of that block of redstone that don't have rails next to them. I'll do more testing tomorrow, but it's getting late, so I'm gonna go to sleep. Edit: I ran it until 3 double chests were filled with shulker shells (almost 69 hour tick warp with the filled hoppers in between the double chests) and it didn't jam during that time. It seems to work quite well. I might be able to shorten the minecart re-reversal system to being 2 by 3, but that's the smallest I could easily make it.

Have you built the mk1 or mk2 variant of the farm, the mk2 variant has a much better system for dropping off the shulker which should fix this issue.

@@theodor1284 Can you please send me the coordinates of the origin of your shulker farm. I am trying to replicate your issue and I have a suspicion that it is locational and very ambiguous. I just tested the setup in several locations and it always placed the shulker in the right place, but something weird happens if you mess with the order of things. If you place the shulker then place the minecart, the cart drops off the shulker and then dies to the lava. If you place the cart then place the shulker. The cart drops off the shulker then goes around the curved rail and sits there in the slab next to the cauldron!

@@cubicmetre The coordinates are 186 113 -23 at the shulker chamber in the middle. Exactly as you describe in the last sentence the cart drops off the shulker and then sits in the slab. The shulker teleports to one of the plattforms. I did not quite understand the part about order of things though. What do you mean by placing the shulker and then the minecart and the other way around. Thank you!

You can detect a shulker in a minecart with a tripwire string 1 block above the tracks. Maybe you can use that to simplify the machine?

i made this and noticed that when i run out of shulker in the main cell 2 minecarts gets released together to pickup nd refill it seems to be breaking the farm any idea why its happening?

Double check the wiring leading up to the cart dispenser, either you've accidentally put a repeater on setting 3 instead of setting 1, or the hopper clock doesn't have enough items in it.

@@eldhose1777 This is very strange if everything is correct then it should not be dispensing 2 minecarts. The last thing which could cause this is if you were playing on something like a paper/spigot server where redstone mechanics are changed to improve performance, for example maybe the shape updates for the walls get delayed and they send two pulses instead of only one?

If by ps5 you mean Bedrock Edition, no, I do not believe this farm will work on Bedrock Edition simply because redstone mechanics in Bedrock edition are vastly different to Java Edition, which this farm is designed in.

Built the original version for a small server I've played on for years. Zero issues, started with a single shulker (I didn't enable the kill chamber until buffer was filled). AFKed for 5 double chests of shells. I think that will last the server pretty much forever. LOL

What you can do is remove the minecart that moves shulkers into the killing chamber and try to start the farm with a single shulker, just make sure to heal up that shulker to full health to give it the best chance of starting up.

Actually bred shulkers do not despawn and count towards the mobcap, I'd say this is intedned as it is similar to how breeding animals produces more animals which count towards the passive mobcap, and they also do not despawn.

Trapdoors rely on the shulker finding a location to teleport to in order to get out of the farm and this is simply not very reliable. Minecarts on the other hand grab the shulker and pull them out of the farm.

Okay, I did a quick test and even with a tiny "holding area" relative size they still TP away from the platforms almost instantly once the trapdoors open, s that isn't going to be a bottleneck. I think a trapdoor-based farm is feasible, and it would make the general farm a lot simpler.

Plz, if you make this farm use entity cramming to kill the shulkers. If you don't you can't place a block near the chamber and have the minecart bring it near the breeding chamber which you use an activator rail to dismount them. I've needed to refill the breeding chamber 4 times, and without the entity cramming chamber I'd be screwed having to get another shulker from the end. Take my advice. Don't use a wither rose.

The idea is that shulkers are placed under the buffer for some time to give them a chance to teleport up, you do not want to allow shulkers which have taken damage to go into the buffer because that can cause crash loops where the farm drains the buffer. So you shouldn't be deciding between entity cramming and a wither rose in that respect.

Not really, the 2 dimension farm is a lot more powerful producing 524 shells per hour over the 160 of the new single dimension design. So if you have built the 2D farm already then you simply have a better farm.

My friend and I just had big problems with getting a shulker to the overword and we had to do it like 8 times because we are stupid fucks and haven't thought of keeping them somewhere in the overworld near the farm so when it broke, we did have to go to the end again. Also we just later added the shulker resupply if it breaks so yeah. We are just 2 dumb fucks. And now we have to get one again because we build it in the snapshot and went back to the full release after we had enough shells for a while and we got an entity crash, basically destroying everything. The sortingsystem (the itemframes) everything including mobs or minecarts so yeah. Everything was destroyed.

Hey Magical Sheep, if you check out my video on the 2D variant of the farm, you will see that it is very easy to transport the shulkers if you find a remote end gateway to send them directly to the central island. You can then make some clever choices for how you position the farm in your game to make transportation through the nether a breeze.

Check out my previous video on shulker farms for a streamlined method for transporting shulkers from the end. Alternatively you can build the farm in the end and not have to transport the shulkers to the overworld at all.

Stops the hoppers from sucking up item entities meaning they produce less lag and you can't get random trash in the minecart return.

Fun fact: standing next to a lava cauldron with a trapdoor nearby and closing the trapdoor, can push you into the lava, kill you and destroy all your stuff...
