Nothing bad happen to me and I'm sure these kids will be fine too.

I'm with you there. Why can't people just be open minded and see that you can't make assumptions based on one scenario. Yes, some children in single parent households do grow up bad, but some grow up fine. I can attest to that as I grew up without a father and didn't get into any trouble. Got my doctorate, bought my own car, and house all before I turned 30. Some kids grow up fine in heterosexual two parent households, but some grow up far worse with two parents due to constant fighting and abuse. Instead of wasting time blaming and pointing fingers, why not accept what the reality is and try to create support programs for troubled youth. Frankly I don't know why the automatic assumption is that single mothers by choice are leaching off the government. Do you know how much artificial insemination actually costs including meds, doctor visits, and lab work? It's not covered by insurance and all out of pocket expenses. Not to mention they may have to go through many failed rounds down the drain. I think if they can afford this, they can afford to raise their kid without leaching off the government and our tax dollars. In fact they probably have to pay more taxes because they're still considered single. Yes, I agree that there are a lot of selfish and irresponsible mother's out there, but some older single mothers by choice are in their late 30s or 40s. They've experienced enough life, done their research, and sought a lot of medical and psychological consult before deciding on artificial insemination. To group them with lowlife uneducated leachers is unfair.

I grew up with kids who never had a dad, had a distant dad or lost their dad. The girls craved male attention and many of the boys seemed lost and often got into trouble. They needed a male role model to bond with and teach them. Im a woman, and i think its selfish to refuse a child a father because of what YOU want. In the long run you may end up with a troubled child. Especially when they are teens, a male co- parent is essential imo.

For those of you who like to criticize and say children need a mom and Dad. What about gay parents and single fathers? How come it’s considered child abuse when a woman decides to be a single mother but yet it’s suddenly not child abuse when a father decides to be a single Dad by choice or if a gay couple decides to have children?

EVERY CHILD deserves a mother and a father and that INCLUDES gay couples. I’ve known a few and the kids LOVE their moms or dads but have still suffered issues from not having a parent of the opposite sex.

Children aren’t accessories. The statistics are alarming when it comes to kids raised in single parent homes. What makes it worse is that she didn’t want to adopt. People need to stop bringing kids into the world for their own selfish reasons. I was raised by a single mom and luckily didn’t become a statistic, but that’s only Bc i hated my childhood so much that i vowed to be better she create a better situation for my future kids.
