Thanks so much for sharing your story! I found myself saying “wow” throughout listening to your entire series this morning. You described my feelings and my experiences. You are super communicator and I can relate today and I’m sure as I go on down this road I will benefit even more. I was diagnosed, or maybe I should say “recognized “, two months ago by a neurologist while I was in the hospital being treated for extreme sciatica. I feel as though the general practitioners I went to didn’t know how to look at my symptoms. Now I am on Sinemet and waiting 90 days to see another neurologist. Meanwhile I am trying to educate myself and having OT and PT. I appreciate you!😊

Fun to see Dana here at FQS! I've followed her for ages. I do prefer , as others have advised, to centre the long zip, move the pull completely away and pull back to sew the bag up. I also prefer fabric tabs on first, it makes a nice finish. But these are cute!

Top stitching the zipper is much more than just decorative. It keeps the lining from getting caught in the zipper!

Cute Bag. Since you are sewing the zipper in a opening that isn't set, go ahead and unzip the zipper, so you can sew the zipper in one motion instead of stopping and finishing after you have moved the zipper pull.

Alternatively, you can open the zip halfway in order to sew at the beginning of the fabric instead of starting to sew past the closed zip head. When you get to the point where the zip is, close the zip back to the top and finish sewing the zip on.

Start with your long zipper centered face down so the zipper head is completely off the project. Then open the zipper pull to half way when you're ready to put the bag together so you won't have to avoid the pull while attaching the zipper.

Hello! We haven't removed this video, and find it is playing on our browser - Google Chrome. You may try playing it on a different internet browser from the one you are using. You may also try adjusting the playback quality. On the bottom right hand side of the video you will see a little gear picture. If you click on that you will see an option to adjust the playback quality. Setting this to a lower number, like 480p or 720p may help the video "buffer", or load fully so it can playback smoothly. Hope this helps!

could you make this using a smaller zipper? seams like a lot of waste using such a long one.
@helenastubberud52377 жыл бұрын
Yes, since she's not using the lengths of the zipper- use what you have. When you have an oversized like this (as I prefer, you can just cut it afterwards)! I'm buying mine all oversized to be able to do this. I don't know why she's not using the opportunity here.

Watch Melody Ham's video to make this bag with perfect ease, you wouldn't have to leave the lining open and then sew it shut
@kathiefleming28308 жыл бұрын
lots of fabric waste in pattern placement... so you buy more fabric?
@FatQuarterShopTX8 жыл бұрын
You can easily make more than one bag if you don't fussy cut the fabric like we did here.

If you'd opened the zipper it would have been much easier to sew
@no-wire-hangers4 жыл бұрын
Nice project but such wasteful cutting. With a bit of planning you could have probably got six or more per fat quarter. Very random placement on the interfacing too.
@Ronibearable8 жыл бұрын
The front of the zipper does not have to be lined up. Use a too long zipper, center the project so there is excess zipper on front and back, then sew. Then slide the pull to the middle of the project and cut the zipper off.. both at the front and the back. See this demo kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKnSeYKvd7OVrpY . I was shocked to see her use a too long zipper and line up the front, the whole point of using too big of a zip is to leave room at both the front and the back. It would have saved all the steps of starting below the pull, and having to go back and sew again.
