Single vs Double action revolvers: Ruger SP101 22lr & Single Six

It this video, I test for differences in accuracy using 22 long rifle between a single and double action revolver. After a brief explanation about the mechanical differences between them, I end up yammering too long while everyone fast forwards to the shooting part. When I finally shut up, I shoot both pistols at 16 yards using CCI Standard Velocity, 40gr Mini-Mags and Norma Tac-22 ammunition. Then we check the targets to see how we did!

Thanks for taking us shooting. Again, I really admire your holsters. Both of these are very nice guns that you shoot well. Finding THE preferred ammunition is not a chore, but a way to get to know your pistol. Any reason to shot is shooting.

Cool I did one similar with my black hawk .357 and SP101 in .357. However 22lr are so much more affordable.

My intention was to compare by blackhawk and S&W M19. I haven't filmed that one yet. I expect about the same results, but it's all about having fun anyway!

Thanks for watching Frank! The CCI SV seems to work well. Try a couple of brands and weights. I should have thrown in a 36 grain to compare.

I prefer SA for aesthetics, but for actual modern usage, DA all the way. On a side note, I have only ever owned Ruger revolvers. (Single 10, SP101 and a Police Service Six)

I'm with you on that sentiment. I like the looks of SA revolvers, but for practical use, especially in centerfire, a double action has a lot of advantages.

I have two Single Six 4.625" barrels. The blue only has the LR cylinder, the stainless was only made for LR (the factory mark gives it some value to dedicated Ruger collectors). I don't know if Ruger did the LR only runs with the slightly smaller bore.

The stainless is very clean. It puts a serious dent in the rims, which is great for giving FTF rounds a second chance. The blue would be a good working gun to use around the farm, ranch, etc.
