I haven’t tried it with a slightly warm glass, but with the warm weather here in Singapore, the glasses already feel heated up.. 😅🥃🥃

To properly "open up" the whisky I think you were not supposed to swirl the glass after adding water, as it would simply lower the proof. What you want to do instead is to just give it a few drops of water and not agitate the whisky, so that the oils that carry the heft of the flavor notes can separate from the other substances and float on top. This is even truer to whiskies with thick legs (or "tears") which indicates a more viscous and oily whisky. Cheers!

That’s a great tip! I used to do that, but found i needed to keep adding water to find the flavour, whereas swirling it gave me a ‘shortcut’ to the same effect… Maybe for the reviews, i’ll revert back to non-swirling! 🥃🥃

Nice review as always….out of curiosity, let’s say you were allowed to restock only 3 whiskies (unlimited refills but only the selected three) for the foreseeable future. Which ones would make your list ?

That’s a really good question! I think because i’ve only been trying lower price range whiskies, a lot aren’t very enjoyable. But if i were to choose at this moment, Nikka by the Barrel, Hibiki 12 Years, and Yamazaki 12 years. Hmm, all Japanese whiskies…

I know! Lowest range is the Hibiki harmony blend which used to cost S$60, and is at some insane pricing now. The Hibiki 12 will just have to stay as a happy memory!

Hey, thanks for watching the video! This is the Singleton Dufftown, Luscious Nectar. Looking forward to getting those whiskies too! Plenty in my cart… Also, yeah the colour depends on the cask that is used, that’s why i’ve been put off by some light yellow whiskies, just didn’t look inviting…

@@sgalcoholguy Color is only one factor that does not necessarily affects the taste and profile of the whisky. Ardbeg 10 Years old is super light in color but yet so full bodied. (The Master Distiller confirmed no added coloring for Ardbeg and Glenmorangie whiskies both brands which is under LVMH). Scotch whiskey can have artificial caramel coloring E150a as they do not have any laws to prohibit any addition of additives, unlike American Straight Bourbon, which by law, cannot contain any additives except for water to lower the proof. Hence, personally for Scotch whiskies, I do not judge by the color unless I know that no E150a is added.

Singleton as the name suggest simple and definitely no complexity except sugar and malt. Easy drinking scotch for most palate but not for the more demanding.

I agree with this. I usually mix my whiskey with carbonated water and this is one of the only whiskeys I have that is almost undrinkable that way. It's fine neat but I wouldn't buy again.

Mate, humane throat is not like a glass surface, seriously... Think about it. It is full of mucousal fluids and enzymes so interaction with whiskey will be extremely complex. It just not going to happen the way you are trying to portray
