I spent a couple years in Uni watching a bunch of horror movies as I never did as a kid (too scared). Poltergeist, Amityville, Exorcist, Alien, and modern ones like Insidious or Dead Silence. Most of them leave A LOT to be desired, in my opinion, but Sinister was something else. It epitomizes suspense and delivers it perfectly. Acting was top notch. And even though you don't really see any details, has some of the more disturbing kills in horror. It apparently also holds a record for being the "scariest" movie based on viewers average heart rate, so there's even some physical merit to this argument!

Out of all the recent horror movies it is a crime that we didn’t get this lore fleshed out like we did with the insidious franchise. Sinister 1 and 2 were great movies and they could have done a prequel and many sequels
@symoneayanna357029 күн бұрын
I agree, the first Sinister showed so many tapes of families that could've been great prequels or the cop from Sinister 2 could've led an amazing sequel. They need to give the people what they want.

Sinister was way better but didn't make nearly as much money as insidious did. I think it's because the cheesy predictable style insidious has made it more palatable for people to watch, where sinister is a darker more chaotic style that wider audiences get scared of.

The point about why Bughuul targeted Trevor first. I think he was testing the boy if he was up to the atrocities Bughuul would instruct him to do, yet finds out Trevor is lacking or something like that. Instead, he goes for the girl, who seems to be more of a quiet, 'don't bother me' kind of type / or the exact opposite of that: a lively ,pretty and innocent thing, which waters Bughuul's appetite even more since he''s a demon and corrupting innocence is his MO. Beyond that, the girl is creative, being able to draw things.

Rather than punishing children who misbehave, it seems more like Bughuul's goul is the corruption of innocence. Like how the films all show a happy family scene before contrasting it with a gruesome murder. This would also explain why they were so intent on using Dillon for the ritual rather than Zach.

If they do a sinister 3 in the past, i wonder what kind of media theyll use. They could keep with the home tape idea, but i think it would be interesting if they explored some other concepts depending on the era, like imagine if bughuul was appearing through video games when home consoles started appearing. Or if they dont go back that far they could put him in those spam emails everybody was getting back in the day like "forward this to 10 people or something horrible will happen". The first 2 movies had shown some examples of him being carried on in other media but mainly focused on the home video aspect, they could still keep that as the main conduit, but could still use other popular things at the time to further show his influence and seemingly omnipresent nature.

9:06 I mean, I personally don’t rule out the possibility that Bughuul helped out the kids a little when they did their familicide assignments from him. Maybe he helped Ted pull up all the victims from the trees or held him up to tie the ropes. Just because the teacher can’t directly tell you what to do on a big project doesn’t mean they can’t give you a hint or something! Kind of wholesome, in a weird twisted way 😂

Your video has reminded me to do a long overdue trivia post on IMDB for the first Sinister, as follows: The Science of Scare project measures heart rate and other factors of participants to rank the level of scarieness of horror films. Sinister rank as #1 in the year 2020 and 2023, with a Scare Score of 96 out of 100. From the study: "Our audience experienced a 34% uplift in heart rate when watching the movie, from 64 bpm, up to 86 bpm across the movie, with the films scariest moment sending hearts pounding to 131 bpm. HRV dropped by 21% among viewers, the second lowest of any film on the list, indicating a perfect balance of startling moments and slow burn scare."

True story: when I first watched this movie, I had a special extension lead connected to my tele so when the power on the tele dropped it would turn off the whole extension lead. Great tool to save power and shut off a number of devices when you turn the tele off. Due to some overly dark scenes in this movie, the tele and everything else would switch off making me jump. This happened three times during the movie and at the time I didn’t know what was going on. Was something trying to stop me watching the movie. It scared me a lot until I worked out what was actually going on. The extension lead didn’t need the tele to fully turn off to trigger. It needed it to drop below a certain power level. With the newer low energy teles, it would trigger and that was what happened. Didn’t sleep that much that night lol

At 30:41, the radio has the Bughuul symbol on it-or at least something that looks a LOT like it. Plus, there’s a letter “B” right above it. So, here’s my theory: the Bogeyman owns his own radio factory and is "recruiting" kids to work there as slaves. He was a great guy to drink a few beers with, but when he started to hit up his meth dealer you had to pay the tab and get away from him, because it was all downhill. The dude hung around with way too many little kids for my comfort, and although he swore he was only trying to manipulate them into slaughtering their family, it still seemed pretty creepy that a grown man would want that many kids around him all the time.
