Great video! I have a sinking couch and am trying to figure out if I can fix it or if I need to hire someone to do it for me. I don’t know anything about fixing upholstered furniture, so this helped me get an idea of what to expect and what kind of work would be necessary depending on what I find when I flip it over and open up the bottom. Also, thank you for responding to questions in the comments! Those were very helpful as well, and I appreciate you taking the time to help folks out!

So helpful, thank you! I've been thinking about looking deeper into my sofa's sagging issues (I've already tried restuffing the cushions which worked for a while). I suspected it might be the middle support beam, but now I'm thinking it could be the springs too/instead! Great video for an overview of some of the issues and how to/what to get to try and DIY it better yourself. Video suggestion - I noticed you used a few tools I don't know, or that you might have made to help with the job. Like that tool that was part wood that helped you install the new springs. Could you make a video explaining what each tool is that we'd need to refurb our sofas? Thanks again for making this one. Appreciate it :) NVM - just found what that one is called in your replies to other commenters. Thanks :)

@@the323vlog4 i saw that tool. Wish I had it last week. My repaired springs are not as taut as the old ones but it will have to do. For those that are looking for clips for those plastic clips that inevitably snap, there are metal ones you can order that match the measurements on AliExpress. These little clips on these vids with old furniture..they don’t work for factory furniture.

The point is to prevent the foam in the seat from sinking, put a layer of protective fabric on top of the nosag so that the foam doesn't get cut by the nosag which makes the seat sink.
@the323vlog4
@the323vlog4 8 ай бұрын
The foam was not the issue in this case. I’m not sure if you noticed, but this sofa DID have a protective layer between the springs and foam. The issue on this sofa was frame/spring related . Thanks

Excellent video. Thanks very much for your clear, helpful works. Just wondering what kind of edge wire I can buy and how many of them ? Do they make the springs stronger and so as the seats? Thank you.
@the323vlog4
@the323vlog4 6 ай бұрын
I would say they’re definitely helpful in creating a stronger seat. They sdisperse the weight evenly so all the pressure isn’t on one or two springs. The springs usually come in 9 and 11 gauge if I remember correctly

We have 2 sofas that are no fun to sit on ie. stuffing, straps loose, I'm curious how much a job like this would cost
@the323vlog4
@the323vlog4 2 жыл бұрын
A lot of it will depend on how easy it is to remove the seat decking…things that Affect this are: Are there decorative tacks that have to come off? Are there layers and layers and layers(dust cover, welt cording, fabric, etc) ? How many staples did the manufacturer use? Is it just the springs that need replacing or the springs and the foam cores? Are there technicians willing to perform the task In Your home or are they going to require to pick it up and work on it at their shop. foam core materials are expensive right now so materials wise, that could add $150. I’d expect it to take 1/2 day if everything goes as planned and it’s just the springs. If the cores need replacement, a full day. In my market, a job like that would average between $400-$800

Hello, are you in Southern California? I recognize the 323 is that’s your area code… I have a leather sectional that is 3 pieces… the flexsteel springs of the couches are sagging and it’s only 2 average weight people and adult use. I want to repair them… so much for the “flexsteel lifetime warranty” If you’re local I’d like to get them fixed to last another 5 years or so.

How much would a repair service like this cost?
@the323vlog4
@the323vlog4 2 жыл бұрын
a lot of it depends on your specific market and the individuals experience and overhead cost. For my area (central Texas), our hourly Rate is around $80/hr if the item is brought to us. If we repair it on-site, it is more. I’d estimate a repair like this to run a minimum of $300. I can’t remover because it has been a while, but I believe this one was around $400-$500. We picked it up, repaired it our shop and delivered it back

What if nothings broken ,but still sags?
@the323vlog4
@the323vlog4 2 жыл бұрын
It can really be one of two things then. One, it could be cheap springs that are beginning to lose tension, or it could be the foam cores of the seats that are beginning to wear. For your sake, I would hope that it is the foam cores, as they are easier to replace. I would recommend looking around your area and seeing if you can locate a upholstery supplier who has more dense foam. How long have you had the furniture?
