This is phenomenal...thanks for having the courage to post even during these times. This controversy has nearly pushed me out of the hobby all together, yet videos like this remind me of my love for the lore. Warhammer is great at showing the true depths of the human spirit, both good, bad, and grey. The kriegs always have a special place in my heart as they are not unintelligent suicidal maniacs, but duty bound steadfast guardian's of the Imperium that know the risks they take and even if they fall keep going, until the end.

I feel weak. I lay on the cold dirt next to my fallen brothers who served their purpose. The daemon continuing to chant it's heretical spell as it believed to have slaughtered all in it's path to victory. Some would give us a raised mug for our loses. Pity us for our failure to guard the hellish relic. And as I lay here in the mud, I couldn't understand the point, we failed our duty, we are undeserving of their care. These thoughts clouded my mind as my breath grew slower, shallower, ever more difficult to do. ``Not yet.`` I rasped. My body ached while my energy was sapped. ``My task is not finished.`` My gloves grew tight as my fists clenched. My teeth grinding against each other while I slowly stood, the pain inflicted on my body threatening to force me down. I refused it's promise of sleep and peace. ``I refuse to fail here.`` I took a step forward. My hands lay empty as I look onward. The chanting grew louder, scorching my mind with it's dark words and false gifts. but through the painful words of heresy, His voice spoke louder. keeping my mind clear of taint. Pushing me onward to strike down the daemon that is spreading it putrid filth across this planet. He has demanded my service, and I shall answer His call. I broke into a sprint. I pushed my body onward, the Quartermaster's sermons replaying in my mind. ``In life, war.`` I stumbled over a corpse. ``In death, peace.`` I remained balanced and ran on. ``In life, shame.`` The pain only grew worse. "In death, atonement.`` His final words sprang forth from my lips. ``ONLY IN DEATH. DOES DUTY END.`` I screamed out. I paid no mind for the pain, only giving my thanks for it kept me awake. I paid no attention to the blood and mud my boots sank in, It fueled my belief and righteous faith. I didn't bother for a weapon, for the He will grant me the strength and will I need to strike down His foes. As I ran I see and hear more of my brothers stand and run. Others that were too weak to run crawled. Others gave effort to move, but were already on their way to His merciful light. Some held blades, or used whatever one could grab as a club. while others carried rifles, fully prepared to unleash their own righteous fury against the diabolical taint. But only one held up our flag, and only one gave out the order. ``CHARGE DOWN THE ENEMY! REMOVE THE FILTH THAT CLAIMS THIS PLANET! HE DEMANDS YOUR LIFE, YOUR DUTY, AND YOUR SACRIFICE! You can see that first Kriegsman drag himself to his feet, square his shoulders, and you can almost hear him think, "Right. Duty. I'mma brain that sonofabitch, or paint him in my blood." Then, his brothers see this badass running Hell for leather at the enemy, alone and unarmed. They're all thinking, "Every step he's ahead of me is a mark of shame before my Duty. " But it all starts with that one trooper standing up, seeing the enemy isn't slaughtered yet, and thinking, "Right."

My own mental headcanon has the following being the story: The previous night’s attack was a total disaster, seemingly the entire first wave that went over the top was killed. But come morning the sentries see one man stand from the carnage in no man’s land, and they watch him charge forward with only his bare hands. Ther Kriegers hear what’s going on, they gather at the trenches, hundreds then thousands, as they watch another and then another and another of the first rising from the mud and continue forward. Almost as one and without orders the entire cancelled second wave charges from the trenches. The thundering of boots drowning out the treads tanks. The demon before them turns around, and feels fear.
