I want to thank you sintax77 for all the great information you provided over the years that I have been following you. Your videos motivated me to start backpacking again after I had my hip replaced. That was was over 3 years ago. I'm 62 years old and your advice on ultra ligh backpacking equipment made it possible for me to get out there and enjoy the outdoors again. I live in upstate New York and the Adirondacks Mountains are my backyard. My sincere thanks for motivating me to get back out into great outdoors.

Excellent! Again! Denali is freaking awesome! And you are the best doggie parents! Her own hammock AND sleeping bag! You rock! In your Maine video with Mike and Danielle, I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I caught the bachelor party bit! I think that's awesome! And I forgot to mention Rose! What a beauty! And the way she followed Mike around, and he was so attentive to keeping her safe and healthy! Rotties are one of my very favorite dog breeds ever, but they aren't built for extended times of exertion, especially if it's warm, and he did so great at taking care of her! Pitties are outstanding animals also! You all have outstanding tastes in dog breeds! 🐾♥️🐾

Hi Sintax77 love watching your videos, keep them coming. You are probably aware of this, the twist top bear canister isn't legal in the ADK high peaks area--DIX range is not included. Only the DEC black bear canister with the coin slot opener is allowed. The Bears have learned how to unscrew and pop of the top--yellow yellow Bear. She was the first and taught her cubs, yellow yellow was the identifying ear tags that she wore. She is no longer alive, but her cubs and others are. Be save out there. Enjoy.

FYI to folks catching this in 2020 or later. New regulations on bear canisters have come out in conjunction with a rezoning of the ADK High Peaks Wildernesses. Check the NYS DEC website for details. You guys were in my neck of the woods!! Would have been cool to run into you. Unfortunately, a lot of trails and associated structures (bridges, stairs, boardwalks, lean tos) are in serious disrepair in NYS. A lot of the work is carried out by volunteers. I’ve stayed out of the High Peaks for years. They’re seriously overrun. But I suspect a fair amount of resources are used there while other parts are left on their own. The “camp here” disks are often too close to the fire pit for me. I worry about embers hitting the tarp. Sara was a riot as always! The olite was insane! And the hammock for Denali was neat. Looking forward to the next part!

Tried the Pack it Gormet all american burger last over night and it was pretty good but a pain in the ass to make compared to other freeze-dried meals. I think I'll stick to mountain house if i'm going to go the dehydrated route.. or just bring some legit food to cook. It's not a bad option for some that want to work a little more to eat a freeze-dried though.
@sintax777 жыл бұрын
+RoadTripVidz Yeah, that burger one is a little different. They're not all that way though. Some of my faves (like the chili, dumplings, and all of their apps) just need hot water dumped in the bag, like Mountain House.

I've had happen mostly when taking it _off_ too slow. There's a sweet spot where the gasket isn't sealed, but the fuel nozzle is still in far enough to let fuel escape. The 2,000' elevation change may have exacerbated things as well. It's particularly painful if it happens in the frigid winter and sprays on your hands.

What fabric is the 2T in? Has Denalis nails done anything to the fabric? While I love my dog in the hammock I don't love the tough night sleep or the tick fears. Like the close up of those underquilt hooks 😉 love your videos! Sara interview by the shed soon?
@sintax777 жыл бұрын
Now that you mention it, I'm not sure what fabric it is. I just checked Dutch's site but didn't see a mention of that either. It's some sort of medium to light weight silnylon though (based on weight rating is 225). I haven't had any wear and tear issues so far. Denali's nails aren't too sharp, due to lots of walking on pavement etc, so that probably helps.

We didn't actually do any backpacking on that trip. Actually, now that you mention it, it was pretty much a food trip, haha. We hit some cool restaurants & wineries, ate some great chili and queso, did some horseback riding, ...and ate some more chili and queso. We stayed in between Dallas and Ft Worth to make it easy to explore both, but in the future I would probably stay right in Ft Worth. It seemed more like my vibe. The free art museum in Dallas was awesome, though.

@bribaldwin36934 жыл бұрын
If you’re not looking to backpack over night, sleeping beauty is a good and easy day hike that would be good for the dogs... if you are going to be doing an overnight.. Newcomb Lake is a really nice hike with a couple lean-tos by the lake I think it’s only a few miles in if I remember correctly and that trail is pretty mellow for dogs too :)
@Brewlee17 жыл бұрын
I don't know how expensive those sealable cooking bags are that you add boiling water into for your oatmeal but you should try ZipLoc quart size freezer bags available in most food stores. They take boiling water just as easily. Add water, mix, then put into a cozy for a few minutes and you're done. Also, are you flying a drone during this trip?

Curious to know, since you are one of the few who has both: which do you think is more comfy? The Dream Hammock or the Dutchware Chameleon?
@sintax777 жыл бұрын
+Luuk Dingemanse It's kind of unfair, since my Dream Hammock Darien is a 10', purchased back before I knew I liked longer hammocks, like my Dutch Half-Wit (10.5') and Chameleon (11'). Putting that aside, I think they are both are excellent options. It just comes down to which options (hooks, pockets, nets, etc) you prefer, and for comfort especially, fabric choice. For example, my wife said she better in her Chameleon than her Dream Hammock, but that's because the former has a heavier, less stretchy Hexon 1.6 fabric compared to the fabric we chose to have her DH custom made in. TLDR: Both are excellent hammock manufacturer s - just make sure to choose your options wisely.
@luuk40897 жыл бұрын
Thx for the info! A yes, that's a bit unfair to compare. So many options available. And a bit hard to test for me since im over in the Netherlands ;) We lack all those cottage vendors you guys have, so importing one is really the only option, which adds a shitload of money onto the regular sale price, so choosing carefully is my only option! Thanks for all the great vids and effort you put into making them. Love the relaxed style and vibe you have in your vids.

Nice video, but I think you have a responsibility to adjust your statement on the bear vault: they do NOT block out the smell. They're designed to protect its contents from a bear, but they are far from odor proof. That's just not what they're designed to do.
@daniellepilcher30247 жыл бұрын
What did you use to separate the hammocks on that single tree? My husband and I normally look for 2 trees to make a triangle but that doesn't always work. I checked the website and didn't find anything, but there is a possibility I wasn't looking in the right place.
