The led light is what makes these worth it. The zapper is just a plus. It’s actually very bright on high and runs about 3-4 hours. Costco has these for a great deal!

These work great inside small spaces as a room, tent, RV etc. I use it in my travel trailer to finish off the ones i could not suck up with the vacuum before bedtime... by the morning the remaining pests have somehow found their way to a shocking doom! It works and the charge does last a long time.

@@Bugg...0_o should get you by 3 nights as far as I remember.

I've had this for 2 years and it's a lifesaver. I'm highly allergic to mosquito bites and even with bug repellant I would get nailed. The combo of my repellant bracelets and this lantern has allowed me to be outside in the evening. We just got done with Skyping our grandkids and because it's so hot in the house we did it outside. Nary a bug bite.

good for inside a tent, you always get 1 or 2 of the bastards when you unzip to go in or out for those nightime beer pisses. the only buzzing you'll hear is a fried bug and not that signature sound in your ears when you're trying to sleep! haha!

I love this lantern. I mainly use it for the lantern aspect. It is bright and lasts for ever, The bug zapping aspect is alright for in the tent to get any stray skeeters. I have had mine 2 years now and its pretty tough. Takes a beating. The rubber cap saves it from all kinds of falls.

Mosquitoes are most attracted to carbon dioxide. That is what they use to catch mosquitoes for the diagnostic labs and monitoring for Zika and west Nile. The light attracts mostly others bugs besides mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes and most biting insects do not use ultraviolet light to find their victims. CO2 traps work but not portable. Treat cloths and gear with permethrin, use deet on un covered parts and add citronella sticks up wind to keep them away. Worked great in Panama jungle.

I am thinking about getting a newer model of this in the UK, not worried about mosquitos especially as those mosquitos probably got caught trying to get a non human meal, but the UK has Thousands of flies, moths, small black beetles etc and if these zappers work well for that then it's worth it.

Good review, I'm very curious to see how effective it is in the field being as it's so small. Big question, does it run while charging? It would be nice if they made one that lost the battery (or perhaps even the lamp) and just added a long cord to run off a power pack to save weight. Just a thought. Cool idea though

Does not work. I received it today and I tested in my hammock hanging from ridge line and it didn't attract anything at all. I on the other hand was getting eat up by mosquitoes.
@samsmith88707 жыл бұрын
Didn't think it would. Doesn't seem large enough to do much esp with a food source so close by. The full sized ones will clear out a small area like a deck but not so much you're already out there. I'm sure it's no substitute for spraying the hammock with permethrin at any rate. That works great. Wish I'd known that last year lol.
@teddythefourth28317 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking it would only work at night if it uses light to attract them. I bet this would work great inside a tent

Quick question, on the charge time, are those based on a 1.4 Amp charge or the 2.4 Amp? Because those could very well alter the three hour charge time.

Yep. If true then you'd find lots of mosquitos buzzing incandescent lights which they don't. Zappers kill moths and other light attracted insects. Not many bitting or pesty insects.

So this ATTRACTS mosquitoes?! Wouldn't you want to do the opposite? In an enclosed area it might over time be beneficial. But out in the open..meh.
@bluemntceltic27 жыл бұрын
Bug zappers do work, just can be over whelmed by the enormity of insect populations. So I ordered this as an aid to cleaning up those pesky insects that get in the tent or RV. We'll see how it works. Sintax did demonstrate that it did collect a few insects. If it does attract insects from a distance then logic dictates that you hang it away from where you are, or between you and the source if you can locate it..... like the pond, puddle etc. If you're dealing with snow melt mosquitoes then my proposed strategy might not be as effective.
