Everyone always parades Juju, which is a really amazing album too. Also their most accessible and emblematic of their works. However, Tinderbox has always been my favorite album from them. It's fantastic

I am so freaking grateful to be alive and to be able experience this truly one of a kind genius ! No one has ever come close and probably never will. With all the years since the beginning in the 70's, i'm still unraveling new discoveries within SATB songs, no matter how many times i listen...they always seem to evoke a new landscape to get lost in.

This is probably my favourite Banshees song (and there's some pretty stiff competition). I've sat in the rain at Lands End, gale blowing in from the west, staring into the wind at the mad crashing waves with this in my head. A completely elemental moment. Unforgettable. Reading back that sounds pretentious as fuck but hey ho, don't care :-)

Tinderbox was dismissed at the time except by music rag Sounds but there is something majestic about the album.
@reesemorgan225923 күн бұрын
"with Hyaena they were drowning, but with Tinderbox they're treading water.." That was either Melody Maker or NME. I always remember that line because I loved Tinderbox upon first hearing. What people looking back have to remember is that 'A Kiss in the Dreamhouse' had been such an innovative, experimental record. Next one, Hyaena, was repetitive and took itself too seriously. As wonderful as Tinderbox is, it did lack surprises. As I recall, 'Dreamhouse' was the gold standard at the time among critics. I still rate Tinderbox at no. 1 with Dreamhouse second.

I always heard Yamaha SGs are excellent guitars, and i finally got a chance to play one at a small guitar store in Manhattan. Tonally, it’s somewhat similar to a Les Paul but with more clarity and bite, which you can hear in this performance. The neck was also thinner and ‘faster’ than LPs tend to have. Really versatile guitar - you can see why McGeoch liked it. The band probably asked JVC to use it to retain some of that sound. Apparently they wanted Robert Smith to use it too, but he thought it was ugly. Love RS, but I’ve gotta disagree - its a beautiful guitar. Any of you players out there should give it a shot. But if you’re a Siouxsie fan, you prob don’t need me to tell you that!

@@gavalar7485 Since it says “o no not another guitar close up!” I think he’s just being funny for the show. This video seems casual, with Siouxsie sitting down. I was able to find some stuff about him starting with Wiki and that leading me around the internet. He experimented with unconventional tunings, too. Yeah I wonder what happened, he seems to have retired from music, period.

Lands End! I'm picturing Siouxsie modeling a nice warm flannel pajama set compete with outdoor house shoes perfect for grabbing a couple more logs for the fire. In the distance a fire crackles and a dog is curled up on the chair that she surely will want to come back to.

Love! At the show for Tinder box' I think it was this song" I was pushed up against Siouxsie in front mikes' in the end she passionately whispered to me" " Lead the way! I must've been 25" lit up and swooning! Then crazy banshee behind me punched me in the kidneys with spiked cuff! Leaped to the stage' went to grab Siouxsie and My heroine kicked her ass " while she was dragged off! I yelled was it worth it. Bloody hell.

Just to clear up some Misinformation here. Acutally John McKay used Hagström Guitars, not Gibson Les Paul. Iv'e Looked at alot of the Photos of him playing he's using mostly Hagström.

I feel like all the banshees guitars used yamaha sg 1000
@siouxsielover92775 жыл бұрын
Not all of them used Yamaha SG-1000s. John McKay used a Gibson Les Paul. Peter Fenton & Marco Pirroni used LPs as well. Robert Smith used an Ovation Breadwinner (JVC used as well), Vox Mark IV, Fender 12-String XII, and Fender Jazzmaster. We all know John McGeoch used his SG-1000 but he had another one tuned to Drop D, 12-string acoustic, Squier Stratocaster, and Ibanez AE410BK. And JVC (in this video) probably used McGeoch's 2nd SG-1000 with a replacement of Seymour Duncan pickups. But for his current guitars he used during The Thorn, Tinderbox, and Through The Looking Glass era (was like I said before) a Breadwinner, black SG-2000, Vox Mark III, ES-335, and an Aerodyne Telecaster. Jon Klein used an SG-1000 and 2000 as well but he switched up to LPs and other guitar brands just like Knox Chandler. So yeah, not all of the banshees used the same guitar.
