I believe the song was recorded in 'half playback' It mean the music was from a tape but the vocals where life. This was often used on (German) TV-shows and it would explains the echo on the drums, because they where loud enough to be recorded by Siouxsie's microphone.

For the twats marding in the comments. Miming for live telvision performances like totp was the standard at the time. It's not really anyones fault this ain't real, just common practice. There are more than enough live renditions of this song here on the youtube so don't worry. Personaly I'm here the the moves so I ain't too fussed.

The studio overdubs are all present including John's 'Ovation Electric Acoustic' despite the fact he's playing his famous Yamaha SG 1000!The bass & guitars are not plugged in along with the fact, Steve & Sioux mention appearing on this programme & miming along to 'Spellbound' in the Banshees official biography.
