Sip It or Skip It: Arran 10

I just poured a glas of the Arran 10. It's not the best whisky, not my favorite, but, half the bottle is gone. It is the whisky that I drink the most. So for me too, thist is a sip it. Cheers!

@@whiskeyisajourney I find it funny too. I used to have only 5 whiskies in my collection and would buy a new one once a bottle was empty. During this time I drank mostly the whisky I disliked the most. Since february I’ve been buying one or two bottles a month expanding my collection. The last bottle I emptied was in june. Now I tend to pour a glass from the left to the right of the bottles I have. With the occasional exception. The Arran seems to be that exception. Don’t know why haha.

Wonderful video as always Peter! The Sip it or Skip it series is great! The Arran 10 is one I keep questioning if it’s a sip or skip for me…..it might just be my bottle but I get a bitter orange peel note that I’m not crazy about and when I see it in a store I’d always rather spend my money on a Deanston 12 or a Craigallachie 13.

Well, if you have to make a choice between Deanston and Craigallachie I would say you're in a win win situation.

I really enjoy the Arran 10, but tried the Quarter Cask this week and fell in love. Such huge flavors.

Love the Arran 10. Great balanced fruity profile. Cantaloupe, pineapple, passion fruit, peach… As the whisky oxidizes, I get all these different variations of fruit as the months go by. A must have in my cabinet.

Congratulations on 2k! More than well deserved. Thanks as always for the great content. When I finally got my hands on the Arran 10, I was so pleasantly surprised that it lived up to the hype. I often got a bit of a salty note - although it's faded a little since I first opened the bottle - but that may just be me missing other more nuanced notes in there.

Thank you Glenn! IMO I think Arran is worth a try. I think coming from Irish and Bourbon Arran will do you no wrong. That is unless you are not a fan of the malt note in Scotch. Speaking of Irish...I did my Irish Part 3 video (coming out Friday May 26th) and I was shocked to see how much the price of Irish whiskey has gone up. I about fell off my chair.

I know. Availability was a problem and a reason why I didn't reach for it. Now that it's more available, price is going to become an issue. Creeping into no win situation. I need to just drink it and be happy.

Oh yea.. Arran. I've enjoyed all that I've tried from them with the exception of the Barrell Reserve. Just didn't hit for me. Feels like they were putting something out just for the sake of riding the popularity wave they were on imo. 10, sherry cask, 1/4 cask though, all winners.

Still have to try the Arran 10, i tasted the Arran 13y heavily peated Pinot Noir cask and the quarter cask in a tasting, I found both of them realy nice. In my region the Arran 10 is about 35 euro so it's not that expensive, but for 12 euro more I can buy the quarter cask, I can't decide which one I should buy first (I can't sell the idea of buying them both at the same time to my wife😂😂😂😂)

@@whiskeyisajourney This week I bought it for the first time and it's perfect, I tried to explain to myself and my friends what's so good about it and I told them that there are more special whiskeys, there are even tastier whiskeys, there are whiskeys with a more interesting punch, but I don't think I've ever tasted a whiskey that when you drink it, you say to yourself like that There has to be a whiskey, in its balance, in its perfect sweetness, in the balanced strength where you have to serve the alcohol in your mouth, of all the excellent bottles I've drunk I declare this as the prototype of the whiskeys, what do you say?

@@אילעובד-ע8ד I think it's a good age, good price, available and the overall experience is spot on. It's light, crisp, fruity, with developing flavors as it opens up in the glass. Like you said it's not a spectacular whisky, but it does everything well.
