Just started dipping and I watched all of your videos, they are very helpful!! Its an excellent video for beginners!!! Can u do a video for dip powder fill on natural nails after they grew for about 2 weeks, a different color fill on top of the old powder. How to do a lighter color fill on top of a darker color and vice versa Thank you so much ❤️
@SipAndDip2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and supporting! 🫶🏻 I can definitely film a fill with a different color! When it comes to doing fills, I would suggest to sort of be strategic about it. So start with a lighter color first, and then a darker color for fill. That way you don’t have to do too much filing. Since I don’t use an efile, that is definitely something I keep in mind 😄 With trying to do a fill of a lighter color on a darker color, I would say it’s possible… but it would be a lot of work 😆💖 you would have to file off pretty much all of the darker shade so it doesn’t show through. I suppose it also depends on if it’s a pigmented lighter shade or if we’re talking about more translucent like Revel’s erica. If wanting to go the fill route, I would definitely do a clear apex first regardless. That way when you file down the color your clear apex is still there! I am going to put my thinking cap on for this for y’all!

Hi, I have found that when I put tips on with my dip powder it stays a lot longer than when I just do dip powder on natural nails. I don’t know why or if it’s because of my job but I just find it chips so easily whereas when I wear a tip it doesn’t. Maybe I need to do another layer or 2 to make it thicker, what do you think? X

Nail prep: 1. Shape nails with file 2. Push back cuticles with cuticle pusher 3. Remove shine on nail using buffing block (a gritty one, not a soft one) 4. Remove oil from nails 4. Apply peelable base coat Application: 1. Small amount of base coat apply away from cuticle 2. Tilt powder at an angle and dip in 3. Run toothpick around cuticle area before the product dries 4. Don't brush off excess powder until the very end just to make sure it's completely dry 5. After all 5 nails are done, dust of excess powder using a hard scrub brush 6. Repeat steps 1-5 (so this is the 2nd dip) CLEAR DIP POWDER STEP: 1. Base liquid full layer 2. Dip in clear powder ACTIVATOR: 1. Apply generous amount of activator 2. Wait 2 mins 3. Shape, buff, and file nails 4. Brush off excess powder 5. Add more activator 6. Wait 2 more minutes 7. Wipe nails with paper towel Finishing up: 1. Top coat first layer (3 quick strokes) 2. Be more detailed and slow when you add 2nd layer of top coat. Make sure to cap the free edge 3. Apply cuticle oil

You just did a video on one hand.. and with the magic of editing minutes here and there, it does seem quick n easy, but I’m glad you advised your audience that we should slow down when doing our nails. when I do my nails at home it takes me close to 2 hours and sometimes just a bit longer, from removing my old gel polish (or dip powder nails), preparing the cuticles, on both hands, painting the nails and curing them, etc, etc…then cleaning up after myself and disinfecting my tools. Yes it quicker getting them done, but it’s my hobby and I love learning from great people like yourself… Keep up the good work ❤

Wonderfully informative tutorials, thank you. I have longer natural nails and tend to get a dip at the free edge which looks like a ski slope. Would be able to suggest how to fix this? Thanks much.
@SipAndDip Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind feedback! 🫶🏻 just so I’m understanding, are you saying at your free edge it’s sort of a ridge and higher than at your cuticle area? If so, this can be prevented by removing more product on your brush and dipping into the jar at angle. It’s totally possible that you’re already doing this though ! If that’s the case, then I would try the pour over method. Sometimes despite our best efforts we will get a ridge by dipping into the jar. So I would try pouring the powder over your nail above a cupcake liner. This should help the powder level out and not be as thick. I hope this helps ✨

Dusting off the powder is great for lots of reasons 💓 It can help prevent contamination of your base liquid. So when you go in for the next layer, if we don’t dust off the excess then it will get into the base liquid brush bristles. Dusting off also helps to keep the layers even and not too thick. Hi Chelsea, I was wondering why you do not use the glass file for the final shaping before the top coat?

I prefer the 180 grit since it’s a rougher grit and dip powder is tougher to shape than natural nails. I like glass files for my natural nails because they’re more gentle. You can absolutely use glass files though to shape for dip powder! It might take a little longer and wear down the file faster though. Just personal preference ultimately 🫶🏻 they do work great to clean up around the cuticle area though because it won’t cut your skin 🙌🏼

@cynthiatorres16782 жыл бұрын
Question, how long did it take you in the beginning to do dip powder nails? Also, how long does it take you now, years later? Unfortunately it takes me 3 hrs. 1 hr cuticle, file and prep. 1hr 3 layers dip depending on opacity, 1 clear dip. 1 hour shaping, buffing and top coat. I tend to get dip liquid on edges of skin no matter how hard I try to avoid and fan out the brush. How can I avoid liquids to the skin?
@SipAndDip2 жыл бұрын
Hi there 🫶🏻 For me it would depend on what exactly I was doing. So nail art, ombré, glitter, solid colors etc. Right now I only do 1 hand per “job” or video. That can take anywhere from 30 min for simple manis all the way to 2 hours if things go badly 😆 I also don’t prep for longevity so that saves me time (I use peel base). Removal can also be tedious! I like to follow nail techs and enjoy the tiktoks that they share of how long manicures take them. It’s very eye opening! And even for professionals, they take 2-3 hours depending on art. I see it as self care time and my me time 🥰 if I try to rush it, it usually doesn’t go well for me lol I also think we’re more critical of ourselves and see the imperfections so we spend more time making them “right”. For getting liquid on your skin, I try to not have too much product on my brush. So I remove the liquid from the brush and star it away from my cuticle area and then guide it back. Sometimes certain brushes can be trickier to maneuver (thin bristles, long bristles, doesn’t fan out easily etc). Sometimes even the liquid consistency can make it trickier too. For example, some struggle with thinner liquid consistencies because it can be “runny”. I hope this helps! 💖
@cynthiatorres16782 жыл бұрын
@@SipAndDip Yes it really does! I felt so bad for taking so long, haha! This really helped. Also, I think my liquid might be more fluid. Just found you - great info, loved how you mention that we need to find what suits our own nails (my nails are very fragile due to hypothyroidism) so I wouldn't necessarily use what others could. I love the glass files and the glass cuticle remover. You mentioned to never use peel bases - any particular reason? I've tried it a couple of times but find they don't peel off or the whole thing pops off after a few days. I'm in two minds about dip powder (I only use clear to strengthen my nails before gel) after watching 'The Nail Hub' video about why she never uses dip powder - pretty scary stuff, have you got an opinion on the reasons why not to use it?
@crystald3655 Жыл бұрын
Peel base isn't meant to last more than a few days. It great for when you want to change out your nails frequently. Dip flu from being allergic to the liquids used in doing dip powder nails can be a huge reason many don't do it. Low oder liquids or using the gel method can really help with dip flu symptoms.

I've been going to the salon for gel nails, but my last set started lifting fairly quickly. Also , my tech doesn't do designs ( love her, but disappointing). Watched this video, suscribed, got a set of summer powders, gave it another try. Succces! Sorry for the long comment! Such an instructional video. I'm canceling my next nail appointment!

@SipAndDip awww you don't have to thank me. You deserve it. You made it so simple and honestly, I'm looking forward to learning something new. Heck, I will even do them for my mom. So let the binge watching commence!

A great tutorial for natural nail application. I do hope you're ok though - your nail beds are blue/purple. That a sign of poor circulation/oxygen. I would like to follow you for a long time. 😊
