Sir Chris never actually climbed any 8,000er although he led the expedition. Bonningon was negligent in his leadership of the 1982 Expedition to the East North East Ridge of Everest. Sir Chris had 25 bottles of bottled oxygeen in ABC at the departure for the climb to the East North East ridge but failed to offer them to Pete Boardmand and Joe Tasker and as a consequence they both died on the ridge of hypoxia. Sir Chris was a fairly incompetent high altitude climber who had a lot of fear and backed out of climbing the East North East ridge of Everest.
